The Buzzword In Adventure: India
Anuj Saxena
Explore the wilderness in India or chase the highest mountains of the world, India is the latest buzzword for adventure lovers. Whether it's the razor sharp waters of the mighty Indian rivers or the dusty terrains of the lesser Himalayas, adventure tourism in India is pushing the spirits of people in a pure adrenaline rush. The sub-continent offers an unmatched variety of terrain such that there is no finding the middle ground whatsoever for the adventure freak. You can unleash the untamed desires in you and fuel it up to do what you always wanted to do. From mountain biking on the treacherous terrains in the Himalayas to the Elephant Safaris in the unfathomable jungles of the North-East India, you can catch a glimpse bio-diversity of the magnificent country.
Trekking in India
Adventure travel in India is best experienced through trekking and camping in the un-trodden paths of the Himalayan ranges. The ranges are considered to be the most impressive of all the mountain ranges in the entire world. The uniqueness of the treks along the region is that you would come across several ancient temples, rustic settlements and a large number of Buddhist monasteries making your experience rich in spiritual eloquence. A word of caution would be to avoid the monsoon season which brings in a lot of rain, but who knows rains might just delight you!
Adventure sports in India
A lot of adventure sports lovers are drawn to India for the ultimate in thrill it offers. Apart from mountaineering, the craziest thing is rock climbing up the hair-raising cliffs, sure to create disillusionment due to their dizzying heights. Skiing in India is also fast gaining popularity as an adrenaline driven sport with fantastic destinations like Shimla, Manali and Nainital. However, the more daring carry their ski boards to higher altitude for some pure spine-chilling experience. Other high adrenaline adventure tours in India are directed towards White Water Rafting and Paragliding which are not limited to any particular region in India. Scuba Diving and Snorkeling are the other favorite water sports which are extremely popular owing to the vast shoreline which spans the Indian Ocean, Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal. Bike Cruise in India is also fast gaining reputation as a ?man's sport? and it's every biker's dream to drive up to Ladakh which sports the world's highest motor able road. It is definitely worth the effort.
Wildlife in India
India is lush with wildlife with the existence of a number of national forests which are home to a variety of endangered species. It's not uncommon to catch a glimpse of prowlers like the endangered cheetah or a prowling tiger. Indian forests are a delight for adventure lovers and photographers alike who want to get the closest possible shot.
The most famous wildlife park in India is the Corbett Nation Park established in the year 1936. It's home to a large number of species including tiger, leopard, Himalayan Black Bear, Yellow Throated Martem, the Indian Grey Mongoose and many other species as well. The Kaziranga national Park in the North-East India, on the other hand, is famous for the One-horned Rhinoceros. The other famous national parks are Eravikulam National Park, Kanha National Park and Bandhavgarh National Park.
