A survey was conducted where a questionnaire was given out randomly to a group of people who claimed they know what is marketing. There were more answers than there were questions. All kinds of definitions about marketing were handed in. This study concluded that the issue of what really is marketing is very complicated. All kinds of books on marketing are available that have complicated the definition of marketing.

For example a lot of academic professors have written books upon books on marketing. These people have never been in business for themselves and yet they will write these huge books that are filled with all kinds of complicated garbage. After reading the books and all these materials you find that you cannot figure out what they are trying to say. You become even more confused and frustrated. And the confusion will spawn even more confusion.

You will also find a lot of the books on business and marketing written by Fortune 500 and Fortune 1,000 executives. These people only have business experience running these huge conglomerates, these multi-billion dollar corporations. They've never started a small business on their own. They don't understand anything about what it takes to turn a small amount of money into a huge amount of money. The only thing they understand about business and marketing are running these huge, huge operations that were already successful when they took over. These same "executives" later retire and become consultants. Then they decided that they will make money by writing books on business, advertising and marketing.

So the question is: who should teach the guy who is thinking about starting a small home-based business or the small business entrepreneur how to market their business or products?

The Answer: Find the guy who has successfully done what you want to do and copy him or her. Learn everything about them and their marketing. Find only the people who you can be able to contact for ideas. In my experience, this is the only way to succeed. Forget about books! Get in touch with the guy who has started with the smallest amount of money and then turned it into the largest amount of money in the fastest period of time ? in the easiest manner. Remember this when you go to the library or the bookstore and you look at these different books. Realize that most of these people who wrote them have never started a small business. These people have never turned a small amount of money into a huge fortune.

The only people who can help you are the ones who are dedicated and patient about wanting to do everything possible to teach you how to turn a little bit of money into a lot of money. When you become a marketing expert YOU can do it too! These people will tell you that Marketing is simply everything that you do to attract and retain customers. That's it! These are the people who are in the business of doing just that. Getting new customers and clients, getting them to buy more and more from you of what they want. That is all marketing is about. Marketing permeates every part of your business. Every time a phone is picked up, every contact that you have with the customers, it's marketing in action! It's all about marketing and there are things that are required to becoming a marketing expert, but you can do it.

Ultimately, you will have to find the people who are marketing experts and let them show you how to market. The benefit is... if you'll become a marketing expert this will make you set for life financially. I promise you'll never ever have to worry about having enough money for the rest of your life if you'll just dedicate and commit yourself to becoming an expert in marketing.

Marketing includes all of the things that you do to attract new customers and all of the things that you do to keep those customers happy and keep them coming back for more. THIS IS IMPORTANT! Only "3 ways" are available to grow and expand your business. I don't care what business you are in!
