Five Top Tips For Novice Affiliate Marketing
John Richards
You have probably seen the ads all over the web. People saying they make $100, $200 or even $2000 a day through affiliate marketing. Can it possibly be true? Well, there's no doubt that some of these people are fakes and are only trying to promote the latest affiliate marketing product to earn a commission, some of them DO actually make a lot of money doing affiliate marketing. The truth is, affiliate marketing can be a very profitable business-provided you know exactly what you're doing and what to expect when you get into it. It won't always be an easy road, but if you follow my top seven tips, you'll be well on your way to making good money with novice affiliate marketing within a short while.
Tip #1: Don't Expect Instant Results
Wouldn't it be great if you got into affiliate marketing today and earned $100 by tonight? I'm sorry to say, it's not that easy. An affiliate marketing business, much like any other business on the internet, takes time to build. You probably won't be making $100 within a day or two of becoming an affiliate marketer. In reality, you'll be lucky if you make $100 within a week of becoming an affiliate marketer. But you can make that much or more a day in the longer run, if you simply stick with affiliate marketing and build up your business gradually. This is the biggest thing that people seem to have trouble with when it comes to novice affiliate marketing: simply staying with it even when things are slow in the beginning. Learn to be patient.
Tip #2: Don't Pay Hundreds of Dollars for Software or a Tuition Program!
Just like those ads you've seen, there are also hundreds-if not thousands-of novice affiliate marketing programs out there that promise to teach you how to make thousands of dollars with affiliate marketing. And while some are capable of doing just this, the majority of them won't earn you a bean - in fact you'll be losing money. That's why it's essential to avoid affiliate marketing programs that charge a lot of money, as more often than not, they'll end up costing you more money than you could ever earn from them.
Tip #3: Find a Reliable Mentor
Despite all the claims to the contrary, affiliate marketing is not an incredibly easy business to break into. And this is why so many people decide to try it, but often stop give up within a couple weeks of starting. The fact is, most people who fail at affiliate marketing have overlooked an essential step of the process of becoming a successful affiliate marketer: finding a mentor. A mentor is someone who is already successful with affiliate marketing, and can help you with starting out. He or she will help you to avoid the common mistakes that lots of people make when first starting out. Many successful affiliate marketers are willing to give advice to newcomers to affiliate marketing, either for free or for a price. Whether you have to pay or not, finding a mentor is vital.
Tip #4: Copywriting Skills
Since you are going to be marketing products to others, learning the art of effective copywriting is essential. If you're not a copywriter already, you must take the time to learn how to properly write articles and other information to promote the products you're marketing. Bum-marketing, an often used and very successful form of affiliate marketing relies on copywriting by the affiliate marketer. If you're certain that you can't write articles on the products by yourself, you can hire a good copywriter. Numerous web sites can assist with this. Good copywriting skills will give you the edge over your competition when you're trying to become successful at novice affiliate marketing.
Tip #5: Be Adaptable
One thing that often makes affiliate marketing difficult for newbies is the fact that the goalposts are always moving. The Internet is a dynamic entity--that is what makes it such an exciting area to work in. A method that worked yesterday may not work today. You have to be flexible and able to "move with the times" Like the dinosaurs, if you can't change then your affiliate marketing career is destined to fail in the long run. However, if you are willing to adapt to whatever is thrown at you in affiliate marketing, you'll do extremely well with it-in time.
