People generally ask me why I do what I do. It does seem kinda crazy to spend more than 3 weeks of my life, loads of money, time and energy putting together a show for 10 minutes of air-time that isn't even supported by a network. But, I am driven by a dream. That dream is to (one day) walk into a mainstream grocery store and see nothing but clean, natural products. I think that a simple trip down a grocery store isle for necessary nourishment should be comforting and safe, not disease-prone and full of misconceptions. The only way this is going to happen is to offer education (and sometimes tastings!) to consumers so they can make conscious choices and therefore increase the demand for healthy foods.
Large corporations and marketers have one idea of what is ?healthy?. It equals money. We see it every day on packages that make you think that their product will make your cholesterol go down, make you skinny, happy and otherwise healthy. I'd like to call a B.S. on that. Most of those products are laden with artificial ingredients, cheap substitutes for food, chemicals, food colorings and things I wouldn't feed my dog. I've got some news: These large, commercial companies that put crap in your food DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOUR HEALTH. They care about their wallets.
What can I do to make a dent in this system? Try to introduce, educate and get people excited about REAL food. This will increase the demand, which will increase the supply, which will allow healthy foods to be affordable to anyone. (Although, we already proved in the Shopping Spree episode 3 that the price difference between natural and conventional food was mere pennies for staple items!)
So, to follow my dream I must believe that we can CHANGE THE WORLD, ONE BITE AT A TIME!!
