Seriousness Of Acne: Know Its Types
Jason Uvios
Normally it's the tiny red spot or pimple on your face you know by the name of acne. But it can also take the shape of a cyst with pus inside and is infectious in nature. It can also be in the form of nodules which causes severe inflammation. The further adverse shape of acne would be acne scars. But in some way or the other all these are acne types. Some are of course at a preliminary infectious state and some are seriously infected.
Are all acnes inflammatory?
The inflammation associated with the acne is the basic parameter of dividing the acne type. Well the size difference comes in the first place but in the seriousness of the condition, inflammation takes the lead. Acnes may be regarded as inflammatory or non-inflammatory. At the initial stage when the acnes pop up there is no inflammation but as they grow bigger, inflammation and irritation becomes more prominent.
Microcomedo: The first stage
It is really the micro-level phase of the acne. It is simply the initiation as if the seed of the acne is sown. It cannot be seen with naked eyes and neither can you feel it at that time. Hence getting the inflammatory feel does not arise. Though if care is taken from this level the further growth can be prohibited but it is in fact unnoticed.
Microcomedo can take the next shape in the form of blackhead or very tiny pimple. Blackheads are otherwise known as open comedos. Similarly from microcomedo whiteheads can even form which are also known as closed comedos. Till now the sense of inflammation is yet not dominant.
Pustules and papules
These have already taken the shape of visible acnes on the skin. Pustules are bumpy pimples but not reddish in color. They have a yellow tinge and if popped, pus flows from it. Thus you can feel irritated with the inflammatory sensation when acnes take the shape of the pustules.
Papules are pimples as all of us carry on our face at some point of our lifetime. They are normally red and if the size is bigger they too carry pus in them. Of course they are inflammatory in nature which increases with the size of the pimple.
Cyst and nodules
They are worse stage of acne. Nodules generally take sac-like shape and pus is filled in them in greater quantity. Bacterial reaction is obvious and inflammation is sometimes unbearable.
The general human tendency is to burst or squeeze the nodules to allow the pus to flow as it gives a relief from the burn. This on the other hand leads to the formation acne cysts and they are highly infectious. To treat them it is a must to see a dermatologist.
