How Be A Private Investigator
Tony Warner
Do you have a taste for adventure and a nose for mystery? Do you enjoy the challenge of delving into the unknown, unearthing clues and piecing them together to find a solution? Well then, you don't have to be stuck with a boring 9 to 5 minimum wage job, you can indulge in your favorite pastime, hone your talent and skills and get paid richly…How? Try your hand at becoming a private investigator, of course!
If you become a private investigator, you will find that you can help crack crimes, find missing persons, save an innocent by finding critical evidence, investigate frauds, run background checks on suspects, re-unite an adoptee with his real parents, etc. To put it simply, you will find yourself right in the middle of cases like you watched on television or read in books and always fantasized about.
The best part about all of this is that, if you really want it, you can have it without too much trouble. This is because you don't need any special education or past experience to become a private investigator. In most states and countries you can now become a private investigator if you are over 18 years of age, are clinically healthy and have no criminal records. In some states, however, you do need have some work experience in a similar field, like police work, for at least 3 years and will have to pass an examination or course.
Here are some more tips to help you become a good private investigator:
1.As a private investigator, your job is to collect pertinent information and piece it together to arrive at the perfect conclusion. Therefore, you are bound to have a lot of information (read evidence) in your hands as you move on with the case. Now, it is up to you to train your mind so that you can filter out the unneeded, irrelevant information and focus on what will have a bearing on the outcome of that case.
2.A good private investigator must also be in top physical condition as you might be required to do some strenuous physical activity at any point of time, (like chasing a suspect on foot). This means that you would have to train at least 3 to 4 times a week to maintain your fitness levels.
3.With this kind of job, you should be mentally prepared to face high stress levels. You may also face unexpected situations, so you have to be on your toes at all times. Thus, not only do you have to be physically fit, but you have to have a sharp mind as well.
Once you obtain your private investigator license, you have two options for finding work. You can apply for a job at a private investigation agency or you can start your own private investigation agency.
In the first case, you will not need to invest any capital, but you will have to gain the approval of an agency. For this, you need a brilliant resume and portfolio and you should be prepared to go through a barrage of interviews before you get your first break.
In case of the latter, you have to have a decent sum at your disposal to take care of the initial major and miscellaneous expenses of your business. But still, you will be your own boss and you alone will reap the profits that your agency generates. The biggest obstacle is to find your own clients. Once you have that bit taken care of and if you can keep your clients happy, you are well on your way to success. All the best!!
