When you finally make the decision to put a new floor down in your home there are a number of things which you need to consider before you do so. However making smart choices in the floor of your basement can lead to many good things including saving money on energy and heating, insulating your home against things like mold and water damage, and keeping out pesky intruders such as insects rodents and roaches and other things from the exterior which you just do not want to have anything to do with.

If you find rats and dead roaches in your basement all over the place when you want to be able to insulate it as such that you will be able to install insect repellent and the intruders will just stay away. Keeping your basement littered with all sorts of other creatures is fine if you are interested in preserving the ecosystem of rodents. However if you are like most domestic Americans and you're not interested in having any little furry or gross otherwise slimy creatures in your home, making sure your basement floor is put in well and well protected will help you in the long run.
