There is now a new and free service that is easy to use to build and publish your own unique website. This new browser based tool is called the Google Page Creator. It is a very helpful tool for website creators who do not have a ton of technical knowledge and who may not know much about website creation. It is easy to set up and publish a website with this service. It uses a "what you see is what you get" editor mode that allows you to create in an environment like that of Microsoft Word. If you have more technical knowledge, however, you can edit in HTML mode as well.



After you have edited the page, you can publish it to the Internet with one simple click. Every user gets a free 100 MB of web hosting and storage space. Google Page Creator's Page Editor features an easy interface that inserts the user's Google user name as the headline on the home page automatically- It is necessary to have Google Account in order to utilize the tool. Functional buttons across the top of the work page include "Back to Page Manager," "Publish," "Preview," "Save," "Redo," "Undo," "Change Look," and "Change Layout".

When creating a web page there are many tools to assist you. Google Page Creator has tools to assist in changing fonts, inserting images or web links, creating paragraphs or headers or editing the page after creation. One special tool, called Auto-Save, automatically saves your work, preventing loss that occurs when you forget to save.

Page Manager allows you to upload information to your website. You will have the ability to make as many pages as needed and upload any files as long as you have the space. For each image uploaded a thumbnail is created for your page. The change layout button allows you to modify your page design. The website creator helps you edit your layout. The dashed rectangle areas are the areas on the page that can be modified.

The Change Look button will enable you to change the way the page looks. The link will show you to the various ways to customize the look of the page. As of now, no ads are on user pages. Even though the service is still in Google labs, the web pages do save and are published correctly. Sometimes Google Website Creator also mimics features retrieved from other sites.

Despite the fact that you may be using HTML editor to create and edit your web page, when saved it may have some of the HTML elements removed. This is the significant downside to Google Page Creator.
