What Are Your Committments?

    View:
In reviewing my conglomeration of information concerning manifesting, one statement stood out and snapped the symbolic rubber band on my wrist. ?You are committed to what is in your life?. Let me say that again. WHATEVER IS SHOWING UP IN YOUR LIFE IS WHAT YOU ARE COMMITTED TO. That was a show stopper for me, how about you?

While it's not all bad, it's not all good either. In my case it would seem that I am committed to keeping, not shedding, excess poundage because it's still on my body, and I'm committed to being a sugar junkie. Hmm, that must change. I am committed to a happy marriage. OK, keeping that. I am committed to sharing knowledge via this column. Happy with that, but looking for a broader audience through syndication so that requires work. I won't bore you with the rest of the list, I think you're getting the picture.

We are just as committed to the good stuff in our lives as we are to the incomplete, miserable, or lack of motivation stuff. The universal law which states that what is in your life is there because you put it there, and if you don't like it, it's up to you to change it, is pretty straightforward.

What shows up in our lives is magnetized to us by our own quantum resonance field. That field is created by our beliefs. The bad news is that maybe ninety nine percent of those beliefs are NOT OURS! The majority of the beliefs that we operate under, knowingly or unknowingly, have been foisted upon us by others. A whole slough of it got adopted into our field while we were children. Well meaning people around us told us things they thought would protect and guide us. Many of those things were simply repetition of generations of fear based thinking. Did you hear things like, ?Be careful, don't talk to strangers.? Money doesn't grow on trees.? ?The rich get richer and the poor get poorer.? ?We can't afford that.? ?Don't get too big for your britches.? I'm sure you can think of plenty more of these phrases that you've heard for years.

You may think that telling your five year old not to talk to strangers is protecting them, however, that program isn't so valuable when fear of the unknown person is still in your field when you're twenty-five. How will you meet new people, how will you get a job? Chances are the employer starts out as a stranger.

All the admonitions about money send a message of another type of fear, the fear of lack. I find that this fear is a very long lasting and insidious program. How often do you find yourself saying, or thinking you're broke, or can't afford something. Yup, they were right money doesn't grow on trees. Yet, technically it does, doesn't it? Isn't money printed on paper made from trees? And being told not to get too big for your pants is not about weight control but a warning not to get carried away with yourself. Again, fear. The speaker may have thought they were protecting you against becoming arrogant, or being disappointed by trying something beyond your capabilities as a child, but it's more like a command to stay in your place, don't rise above your station, and absolutely do not go for the gusto and really succeed at something, anything!

Are you beginning to get the picture? So many seemingly well-meaning warnings take hold in our resonance field and hold us back from our own greatness. And the majority of these instructions we've accepted at a very young age, and we are still unconsciously holding onto them as truth when they may not be. We've accepted fears that are not our own, are no longer valid, or perhaps never were. The good news is you can change your field. Yes it will take some dedication but you can oust those nasty programs that are holding you back. Make a list of the things that you believe - all the good men are taken, there are no good jobs, I deserve a better job, etc. What beliefs on your list are holding you back? Is it time to change your commitments?
