Anabolic steroids, also known as anabolic-androgenic steroids or AAS, are the steroid hormones related to the hormone testosterone, which is key player in the growth of cells, tissues, muscles, bones, and genitals.



Actually, anabolic steroids are the synthetic derivatives of the naturally occurring male anabolic hormone testosterone, the principal male sex hormone. Testosterone is primarily secreted in the testes of males, and the ovaries of females, although small amounts are secreted by the adrenal glands.
