Performance and training are key, if you really desire to make it to the NFL. Even with that, it is a crap shoot. The truth is, only about 5% of college athletes actually go on to the professional level. Of those, only about 2% were college football players. The NFL uses more athletes than professional basketball or baseball, so your chances are somewhat better in the football world. Nobody gets to the professional level by chance. You have to have some major level of skill and not be afraid to work hard to keep that level. You don't have to play college football to make it to the NFL, although that is the most likely way to go. You could try to get in as a walk on, but it is really unlikely to get in using that route. Some years are easier. They sometimes need extra players as injuries take over. You need to be observed by a scout while playing for a 1-A division team. You need to make each and every game count! Play your best each and every time and think about the fact that a scout could be watching you. Another way to get added exposure is to go to a college football camp. These are available to the general population and are sponsered by various college football club's across the usa, and overseen by the Head Coach. One of the greatest camps is at Florida State University and it is held each summer. It is an awesome opportunity to be observed by the head coach and to learn some great skills and techniques while you are there. Most camps are about a week and will cost at least $200 or more. You can stay on the campus if need be, for an additional cost. It could make a huge difference in your qwest to get into the NFL.
