What Kind Of Toothbrush Is Best?

    View:
A toothbrush is a dental tool which is used to clean the teeth. There are various types of toothbrushes that are available and each has its certain advantages and disadvantages. Some examples of the different toothbrushes are a traditional manual toothbrush and a electronic toothbrush. Even the components of the toothbrush may vary as the tip or head of the toothbrush may vary in size and the texture of the bristles may vary anywhere from hard to gentle. Toothbrushes are one of the most important tools for one's good dental health routine. In terms of which the best kind of toothbrush that one should use, the answers may vary. Normally, whichever type of toothbrush is affordable and comfortable for someone to use will be the best. However, some studies have shown that electronic toothbrushes are better for one's teeth then manual toothbrushes, but at the end of the day, they still do the same great job if you know your tooth brushing techniques.

Types of Toothbrushes Available to Consumers

There are dozens of options when it comes to purchasing a toothbrush. Electronic toothbrushes can be quite expensive, so many people choose to continue brushing with a manual toothbrush. However, for those people who can spend a little bit more, dental companies are now making a ?hybrid? electronic toothbrush. This is a toothbrush which looks like a normal manual toothbrush and can be used as such, but with a press of a button, a battery operated vibrator creates an electronic toothbrush that helps lift plaque easily from your teeth. Other electronic toothbrushes have rotating bristle heads that spin in contrary directions which seem to be the best type of toothbrush for cleaning. Another electronic toothbrush is the two speed electronic toothbrush which has a faster speed for teeth and a more gentle speed for the gum region. Plus, you can choose your toothbrush depending on the size of the toothbrush head and the bristle material. Even children have toothbrushes specially made for them which are bite size for their small mouths. Once again, tooth brushing technique will always outscore the type of toothbrush that you own. If you do not know how to properly use a toothbrush, then you can purchase the most expensive one but it will not save you from a few unwanted sits in the dentist's chair. If you perform a thorough dental hygiene routine, any toothbrush that you use will work perfectly with good tooth brushing technique.

What Type of Toothbrush Should You Use?

Nowadays with technological advances, many dentists recommend using an electronic toothbrush. Many people believe that by using an electronic toothbrush that it will help them to avoid unwanted visits to the dentist office. They also use this reasoning to spend more on an electronic toothbrush as it will save them more money in the long run. In general, you should use a toothbrush, whether it be electronic or manual, that has soft bristles. Soft bristles are great for teeth cleaning as they are able to brush the gum area without causing bruising or cutting of the gums. These soft bristled brushes should have rounded head tips for easy cleaning of the teeth due to the teeth's natural curvature. Your toothbrush should also be made by a brand name in the dental world such as Oral- B or Crest. They are reasonably priced and you will avoid using a toothbrush that may cause irreversible damage to your teeth and gums.

Toothbrushes and Dental Hygiene

Your toothbrush is very important when it comes to dental hygiene. You should replace your toothbrush every two to three months because as the bristles begin to ware, the effectiveness of your toothbrush begins to decline. Toothbrushes which are used after their 90 day mark, become about 30% less effective. You should also take into consideration that after this 90 day point that your toothbrush is beginning to accumulate germs and bacteria. Using an ?expired? toothbrush will make brushing your teeth counterproductive as you may be introducing bacteria into your tooth and gum area. Also, remember that brushing your teeth is not the only part which makes up dental hygiene. You should also invest in a good toothpaste, dental floss and mouthwash in order to perform the best dental hygiene procedures.
