The kingdom of Bahrain is located in the Middle Eastern archipelago in the Persian Gulf, tucked into a pocket of the sea and flanked by Saudi Arabia and Qatar. Though she is sited in a desert Bahrain has many attractions and things to do therefore a trip here could never be boring. There are many cities in Bahrain like Hamad Town, Isa Town, Muharraq and the capital Manama. This breathtaking country covers a small area of 665 square kilometres and has an estimated population of 698,585 with a majority speaking Arabic, making it the official language. Other languages spoken here include English, Persian and Urdu. Traversing Bahrain has been made simple with the establishment of taxi services, buses and there are even limos available at a cheap price. Transport is also offered in form of camels and this is mostly in towns and major cities of Bahrain.



You could start by going scuba diving, snorkelling, water surfing and parasailing among other water sports around Bahrain's sparkling islands. As you walk through the capital city or any other city, you can purchase an incredible souvenir and also some authentic pottery at the A'ail Village Pottery. There are many things to see as well and you can start by the capital, which is a modern city with Manhattan-style skyline. The ancient city capital Bilad al-Qadim presents much of Bahrain's history. This county has a prehistoric cemetery which is probably the largest in the world. You can look inside The House of Beit-al-Jasra which is a wonderful example of traditional Bahraini architecture, with exquisite external simplicity and built from local building materials like corals.

There is a natural wonder in Bahrain and that is the 400 years old mesquite tree which stands alone in the middle of the desert completely free of water about two kilometres from the Jebel Dukhan which is the highest point in Bahrain. You can sit under this tree and hide yourself from the hot sun. After resting under this magnificent tree, you can visit the Al-Faith Mosque which is one of the largest mosques in the world capable of accommodating 7,000 worshippers at a time and is arguably the largest place of worship in Bahrain. The Bab Al Bahrain (the gate of Bahrain) is locate in Manama's central business district and marks the entrance to the Manama souk. It is one of the top tourist attractions in Bahrain and it once stood at the water's edge but you have to walk 10 minutes to get to the sea nowadays due to the extensive land reclamation. Visit the Barbar temple which is an archaeological site located in the hamlet of Barbar and is considered to be part of the Dilmun culture.

If you are into history, you can visit the Bahrain National Museum which is the largest and one of the oldest museums in this country. It is near the King Faisal Highway in Manama and possesses a rich collection of Bahrain's ancient archaeological artefacts since 1988 and covers 600 years of Bahrain's history. The nightlife of Bahrain is somewhat lively though the sale of alcohol is not encouraged but it is available to non-Muslims in nightclubs. After you have a great night out, you can retire either in hotels. Though they are expensive they offer the best in accommodation or you can go camping. Many people would tend to kick Bahrain out of the tour list but in the process, they miss out on so much. Don't be one of those guys!
