Dogs have varying preferences for sleeping areas and some can be very discriminate with their choices. But in a place like your home, they may sleep just anywhere they wish to. There is really no definite area where your pooch should sleep, but it isn't a bad idea to have a list.

Who says baskets are just for your groceries? These shopping and marketing buddies can also be sleeping areas for dogs. If your pooch doesn't have active jaws and fangs, baskets will be great sleeping areas. A soft pillow placed inside will be a good way to make your dog feel comfortable. But, if you have a chew-crazy pooch, it is better to use a plastic laundry basket instead.

You can also place your pets on nesting beds since they will cradle your dog when it lies on them. Some nesting beds let small pooches creep inside to enjoy a fitful sleep.

You could also go for blankets. Dogs, too, may find this piece of wool a good place to doze off because a blanket is soft and can ably provide the right temperature. Don't forget to regularly wash the blanket to keep its pleasant scent.

Dogs also require a tidy and dry area to sleep on. Hence, wet, damp surfaces aren't sleep-conducive. As such, raised platforms are ideal to let dogs sleep without getting sick.

Made of dog-friendly fabrics, bean bags are great for dogs to sleep on. These dog beds are advisable if your dog is an active one because they support movements.

If your pet loves the feeling of security, it will particularly love dog crates. Crates are a good place to have your pooch sleep on as they also provide a private space for your pets.

Of course, nothing beats your very own bed in making your dog relaxed and secured. Dogs particularly love the scent of their masters and the idea of being close to them since they feel secured, taken care of, and loved. It is good to have your pooch as a sleeping companion from time to time. However, never allow your dog to sleep beside you very often. Aside from the fact that having your dog sleep with you on a regular basis is pretty unhealthy, it can also lead to over dependence on you.
