In this world of extreme sports it seems that business and corporations are also in a world of extreme competition. New businesses open and quickly close just because of this competition. Business literature indicates that if a company or business is to survive in the jungle of competition they have to have a business plan that includes a data-driven marketing plan.



Marketing is one of the keys to success. Of course you have to have a product or service others want or you have to convince them that they want or need your product or service and this is where the marketing plan comes in. A good marketing plan is based on data about the target market and how to attract their attention to your product or service. So, a part of the marketing plan focuses on how to get the attention your business needs to compete.

Most businesses use promotional giveaways as a part of their marketing plan. Selecting the appropriate marketing giveaway is key to getting your target market's attention. Promotional pens are a good way to start the public awareness that you are in business and ready to meet their needs. So, how do you make a promotional pen something your target market wants badly enough to do business with you, after-all, pens are a dime a dozen aren't they?

One idea to think about is to use the promotional pens as a carrot for something the target audience wants. For instance, say your business is a bicycle shop and you are competing with a couple of other shops in a medium-sized town. A promotional pen giveaway, in and of itself, may not bring people into your place of business, but if you set up a deal where one in 20 pens are marked with a special code that wins the owner a prize of value, people will come into your business to receive their promotional pen and hopefully their prize.

When they leave the shop, they go with your promotional pen in their pocket or purse and your marketing visibility is on the move. Pens are one of THE most often left behind or lost item ever. Thus, it stands to reason that the new owner of your promotional pen will be leaving or forgetting their pen in the near future. When this happens, your promotional pen will be found by someone who will then become the owner of the pen and they will see your advertisement on the pen and learn that you are in business.

As your pen travesl around on its? natural course of being lost and found, your marketing dollars will continue to be at work and your name and info will be seen by one new owner after another new owner. This being the case though, means that the quality of your promotional pen needs to be fairly high. You need this for two reasons: 1) the pen needs to be functional for new owners to keep it and use it and, 2) the quality of your promotional pens reflects directly on the quality of your business.

With this all said, let your promotional pens do your marketing one new owner at a time.
