Well I've tried this place and what I can only say is that they are really what their shop name says. The fishes are extremely fresh and the way the chefs prepares the dishes are definitely up to standard. I highly recommend this place for any raw fish lovers!
I particularly love eating at Fish Mart Sakuraya (Parkway Parade) as their fish are always fresh, and service is excellent. The best thing is that they serve sashimi by weight. Customers get to individually hand-pick their sashimi and the sushi chefs will slice them to smaller pieces before serving. This makes dining here value for money, as customers pay according to weight and not end up with a fixed number of thinly-sliced sashimi.
At the end of the winding South Buona Vista road off Pasir Panjang is Village Centre, a small building with Cold Storage its anchor tenant, and a mix of other restaurants like the familiar Lemongrass Thai restaurant. Besides that, there’s also a hidden gem in the form of Fish Mart Sakuraya, i’m not so sure whether its so much of a hidden find since there might be tons of people knowing its existence already.
Good value for fresh sashimi If you want sashimi. They serve up great salmon fillets, yellowtail, swordfish, tuna belly etc. Top any of it off with a bottle of sake and you will have a very full meal. Don't underestimate the slices they serve from the counter for they look smaller than they actually fill the stomach. Without a rice dish, a good helping of any fish slice gives a satisfying, healthful lunch. Best to go before 12:30pm.
We have visited their spot at Parkway Parade on the East Coast a number of times and found it to be great sushi! The fish is fresh and the service is good. Definitely some of the best sushi that I've found in Singapore. Love the convenience of it and having sushi grade fish of our own tartar at home!
There is a newly established branch at Anchorpoint!!. A very interesting place that sells all kinds of raw fish ranging from salmon, tuna, yellowtail, octopus. Aside from having a mini fish market, there is a small area for dining in as well that serves pretty decent food and the price is also very reasonable
People living in the West always complain about how rarely good food can be found there. Just as I was brainstorming all the shopping malls in the West... starting from jurong point, westmall, IMM... West Coast Plaza came across my mind. It is a revamped shopping mall from the old Ginza Plaza if anyone can recall. Be surprised with the cool & new furnishing inside West Coast Plaza. There's lots of things going on - mini exhibition of transformer statues, wide array of shops, wide selection of eateries & restaurants.

If you are a Japanese food lover, you'll dig this place. It was my first time at Sakuraya. Truly amazed at the authentic concept. The restaurant is divided into two sections, one for food & one for a quick shopping. While entering the restaurant, you will walk past a fridge where fresh fish meat aka Sashimis are nicely packed in transparent foils. Bf says that its the first time he salivate at the sight of RAW SASHIMIs. The fun part is that you can choose the type of sashimi you fancy and it will be sliced right away before served at your table. Yummy!

An increasingly popular drink paired with Japanese cuisine is the Calpico. It tastes like yakult. I like it.

Another recommendation for side dish is the Fried Potatoes. Its crispy and tasteful. You can choose to dip in a sweet & sour sauce that comes along with it.

I ordered Udon for my main, soup is a lil too salty. But i like the texture of the noodle, its bouncy(aka Q~) enough.

After we finished the meal, we went to window-shop around the fish-mart. They sell many japanese food products (frozen & non) off shelves.

Do check it out if you love sashimis! i would go there again for that!

Fish Mart Sakuraya used to be located at Ginza Plaza, before they moved out to the Village Centre. But with the re-opening of West Coast Plaza and closing of the Village Centre, Sakuraya has now moved back to its old place but at the ground floor. As they are extremely value for money Japanese food, Sakuraya is always packed with families, forming long queues.

Food is typical Japanese food, but they specialise in sashimi, which are located in chill display cabinets for customers to select and hand over to the staff which will prepare them. Besides that, Sakuraya also has a lot of grilled fish items, and tempura food as well. This wide selection of dishes should appeal to most people.

I do not like this place at all. The cold noodles are seriously horrible! so hard and in 1 lump!

Sashimi is just normal, can be way better. Maybe the only saving grace is that you can have some cheap sake/shochu; but that still does not deceive your tastebuds!

Not to mention that service is bad. Noisy and cramp, and flies flying everywhere.

Not really an ideal place.
