Barbeque Events To Remember |
|
What makes the perfect barbeque event? There are various aspects, but it's important that you concentrate on cooking good food and on ensuring that your guests really enjoy themselves. A successful BBQ day will be remembered for a long time. Unfortunately, if things goes wrong then you may find that your event is remembered for all the wrong reasons. Let's start by concentrating on the food. Before we even consider the type of food that you're going to cook, it's important to say a few words on health and safety. More people suffer from food poisoning during the summer months than at other times of the year and many cases are directly caused by food that has been cooked on a barbeque. This isn't because using a BBQ automatically means that you have problems - it's because too many people fail to follow the basics on health and safety. The main things that you need to be careful of tend to surround the handling of meat products. Don't allow raw and cooked meats to come into contact with each other. If you are handling both during the day, then always wash your hands thoroughly after handling each. Also wash any equipment that comes into contact with either. It's vital that you avoid contamination. When you come to cook the food, you'll generally want to aim to have meat products cooked through. It's no good having chicken, for example, black on the outside and raw in the middle. Not only does this not look good - it can be dangerous too. Think about the side dishes that you'll present together with the cooked food. Green salads, coleslaw and potato salad always tend to go well. For an extra spark, make a special drink for the occasion. Sangria is often a real hit - perfect for the summer. There's no reason why you can't host a great barbeque event.
