About Us
More than three years after 40 Hands’ debut, the specialty coffee scene in Singapore has grown tremendously, and we’ve kept ourselves busy feeding people with delicious coffee. Caught up in pulling shots and making fresh comfort grub all day, we suddenly noticed that the café was looking a bit tired. 40 Hands was first built on a shoestring in the early days of Singapore’s coffee culture, and having grown up along with the scene, it came time for a little sprucing up.
3 weeks and a bit of tinkering later, we re-opened on April 4th, 2014 with a refreshed look and menu! Come check us out and we promise the same great coffee and food in a space that’s a little more polished and comfortable, yet keeping that cosy, soulful feel that we’ve grown with over the years. A generous embrace of wood elements adds warmth, while army-inspired motifs and Grover’s personal knick knacks are evocative of his own childhood fascination with the theme. Taking coffee to the next level Originally buying all of 40 Hands’ roasted coffee from specialty roasters Five Senses Coffee Australia, who have 14 years of experience in the industry, Grover wanted to go a step further to bring Five Senses’ roasting know how and incredible green coffees into Singapore. Hence, he partnered with them to open Common Man Coffee Roasters, delivering fresh locally-roasted coffee through its own café at 22 Martin Road, as well as various wholesale accounts in Singapore and the region.

Friends recommended weekend brunch in Tiong Bahru. Commented that Forty hands has a variety of sandwiches and also must try their Tau Sa Bun which is said to be the best. Serve great coffee too especially their Ice Mocha.
Really enjoyed my time withe a friend at Forty Hands. Nice place, nice food and they also have some awesome cafe lattes to complete your bonding moments. I recommend this place for brunch. No wonder why this little piece of gem is always packed with people.
Arnulfo Leguizamo Finca Prima Vera... quite a mouth-full... but your mouth will rejoice if you drop in to 40 today and try this rather special Colombian single origin filter roast..we have very limited quantities. Just ask our baristas to make you a hot or ice pour-over!
Nice place to enjoy a leisurely breakfast with a friend or two....only during the weekday cos super super packed during the weekend.
The aroma of their coffee always wake me up for the day..
A cosy nice cafe in the mist of the oldest estate in S'pore, always packed on weekend, highly recommended the chocolate tart n latte
Heard and read some reviews of Forty Hands and mostly were good. A friend told me that apparently she read that the owner made better coffee than the staff and we were very lucky
to see him around today. We had the latte@$5.00 and it was one of the best I ever had and everything about it was good, creamy, aromatic and strong. The owner was very thoughtful and friendly and a friend of mine had an expresso and he taught my friend to drink it immediately as the longer you take to consume a expresso, it will turned sour. Good tips and glad to know this. Some of my friends had the caramel banana cake@$3.50 and the taste were very normal.
Fourty Hands is quite a nice cafe! Very Australian style. I Ordered a ham and cheese sandwiches that was very generous in portion of ham, abit salty though. The bread however was really good! Very crispy and tasty. You could even eat it on its own! Had a latte which was not bad too. Prices were quite okay too! Spending: Approximately SGD 25
I live n tiong bahru, this has became a weekend must chill place for me.
Infact, i love to see a cafe that is tucked within has such a quaint place in a surrounding neighborhood, feels like living in a different country.
Forty hand is a small place a packed on a weekend. be there early because most of the tables basically taken up and must try their excellent coffee price range from sgd4 to sgd8. i always opt for the cappuccino with the foam expertly done.

Forty Hands...as the name may sound is not something fanciful but a cosy cafe outlet that is nicely tucked in the mist of the oldest estate in Singapore!
A miniature joint that are usually packed on almost every morning, they have embarked to create more space on their current unit and an extension to accomodate on the overwhelming crowd.
Great coffee and breakfast set are always available and do give their Tau Sau Par a try. A unique offering of traditional taste in a western cafe!
Highly recommended!Spending: Approximately SGD 10
