Kaya toast is one of Singapore’s most popular local breakfast items. It goes without saying that there are many different places serving it. Besides Kaya toast chains like Ya Kun, Killiney Kopitiam, and Toast Box, we also have the old school coffee shops like Chin Mee Chin.

I am not sure if you have heard of Good Morning Nanyang Cafe, but their kaya toast is definitely worth trying, especially if you are working in the Central Business District.

Good Morning Nangyang was a cozy little cafe in Chinatown Point that sold good koppi and even better ciabatta toast, but then Chinatown Point closed and I though Good Morning disappeared with it :~( Thankfully, I was wrong!They\'re still around, but now at Hong Lim Park (which you may better know for Speaker\'s Corner).It\'s a stand-alone shop now with some outdoor tables and a small indoor area.It\'s less convenient, but still worth coming. I wasn\'t hungry so just had a cup of kopi - thick and sweet!I hope their ciabatta recipe hasn\'t changed either.
This outlet at Sembawang Shopping Centre is much nearer as compared to the other outlet in town. And so, this has become my regular hangout whenever i am in need a coffee break with a good piece of toast and a good cup of coffee. The Ciabatta bread was lightly toasted without compromising the softness of the bread. It was then lightly applied a layer of butter followed by a layer of kaya. The sweetness of the kaya is moderate. And, they have always gotten the balance of the coffee powder, condensed milk and sugar right each time. This is the important factor to a good cup of coffee. Such simplicity is a joy. A good cup of coffee and a good piece of toast can be happiness.
tried their kaya toast before. Like it. Its less sweeter than ya kun. decided to try something less heavy for tea- their scones comes in plain or raisin variant. I chose the raisin one at $2.10 each. They heated it up for me in a plate with strawberry jam & butter on the side as spread. Love that the scones are crunchy and not too flaky.
I went to Good morning Nanyang for breakfast, few days back & saw Orange Ciabatta on their menu. Since Im an Orange fan, i decided to try it out. I paid for it & was given a token, that it would be served in a while. The place was really crowded withpeople having their breakfast. My breakfast arrived in 3-4 mins. The ciabaata was really yummy. It was hot & had butter, kaya & orange rind. The Hot milo was great as well. Loved my break fast that morning.Spending: Approximately SGD 5(Breakfast)
If you are in town and looking to have a good cup of coffee then this is an ideal place to chill. This cafe is located in the Community Centre right beside the Hong Lim Park and a stone\'s throw away from the Hong Lim Food Centre. This particular cafe is owned by a Makan Kaki from the Makansutra forum. He was an economist that quit his job and started this cafe. Their coffee ($1.40) is highly recommended. Another unique item on their menu is Ciabatta Toast at $2.40. This is an east meets west creation. The order was made at the Counter then a number tag was given for the Ciabatta Toast. It was served by a friendly Auntie to our table in 5 minutes. The Ciabatta toast tasted fresh. It was slightly toasted and halved it before applied a layer of kaya and butter. It was then sliced into 4 pieces. It complemented the coffee perfectly. The coffee was done pleasantly with a good balance in between the condensed milk, sugar and the coffee powder. I definitely enjoyed my coffee break right at this cafe.Spending: Approximately SGD 1.40
This is kaya toast from Good morning Nanyang Cafe. I like to eat bread. They toast it to very crispy and spread kaya and put in a piece of butter. As more and more types of shop selling kaya toast, i become really hard to differentiate and write food review. Perhaps they should make it slightly special and different from others than the customer can have impression on it.
A delicious breakfast can really make a good start of the day. This luncheon meat noodles can give me energy. Even just a simple egg noodles with vegetables, luncheon meat and egg, it gives you a complete nutrition. I like the texture of the noodles~~ chewy.. I hate soft noodles.. But this noodles look like instant noodle. The soup is just normal.. not really special..
I ordered a cup of iced coffee and the very special orange ciabatta kaya toast. The iced coffee is ok, quite fragrant and thick which is to my liking. The ciabatta kaya toast is soft yet crispy and it has more bite than the normal kaya roti toast. I myself think it is an ingenious idea to use the ciabatta! As for the orange kaya spread, the sweetness level is just right and there are also some orange peel in the spread itself, which gives it more flavour. I will definitely come back for this toast anytime!
