Had tried their Fluffy Pancake Stack caramelized apples, crisp pork belly, swirled cinnamon rhubarb ice-cream. Simply delicious!!
Very good breakfast, especially the lamb sausages. Wish the portion had been bigger..
Have saw the raves about the brunch here (even with its limited menu) and angmokia had wanted to try this place for awhile so we went. The place looked clean and casual (more than I had expected) but air con was too cold to sit inside but outside was abit crappy. Anyway There were alot of beef so i has quite limited choice. I chose the egg benedict had u could choose to have trout or beef so naturally i took the first one. Angmokia had took the beef hash which was had good reviews. First when we arrived the portions had look disappointingly small as u can see from the picture. We were abit surprised because each course had cost abt $22. But guess what? I must say the portions were really perfect! Egg benedict: The 2 egg benedict looked so yummy with the hollandaise and cheese sauce on it and small pieces of pink trout in between the layers. the difference with this dish with the others is that they were using scones instead of muffin at the base. This had made it a much more filling dish. Overall I would say the dish was abit more savoury (trout was abit smoked and salty and the scone too) but portion was really good. Beef hash: small tabboleh salad at the side and i was trying hard to ask my bf what was in the bowl but he was enjoying the food so much he couldnt name everything. Lol. There were 3 thin slices of sundried tomato bread (would appreciate more bread pls!) to dip into the beef hash. Inside i think theres egg, beef, cheese? and not sure if there are potatoes. But i think he was very satisfied with the portions too. On a side note, i think i saw kangaroo meat on the menu. hehe. Well good quality food for the price but im not sure i will go back again for the limited menu.
Nestled within the courtyard of the Albert Hotel is Kookaburra the sister establishment of all-day breakfast joint Late Plate. This new eatery not only offers All-Day-Breakfast concept but also does substantial mains and desserts all under the care of Champion Chef, Roland Graham, who hails from Down Under. Cozy ambiance with a zen feel as the interior consist of white brick walls with black furniture. Its classy but not suffocating. You can get away with wearing flip-flops, berms & t-shirt. Great place to chill after work, have a quiet romantic dinner or just hang out on a lazy Sunday. They have a basement area great for hosting parties. The mezzanine area has a large window overseeing the kitchen where you can see the chefs preparing the food. They have the usual cocktails but with a twist. And if you are game enough to try new concoctions you can ask the Site Manager, John Leo to design one for you. I personally like the "Longan Lychee" consisting of Vodka, Gin & Rose Syrup. If you want something stronger with a kick you can go for the "SMF" consisting of Champagne, Vodka & orange juice. During my visit there I had the Sharing Starters consisting offried prawns, smoked salmon wraps, BBQ Kangaroo skewers, scallops with melted cheese & potato wedges. Kangaroo Mignon as my main dish and most importantly Creme Brulee dessert to finish the meal. The service is impeccable, staff are friendly, attentive, quick and efficient! They have so many other interesting food I want to try definitely going back there again! Kookaburra is at 01-09 Albert Court Village Hotel, 189971. Open Tue-Fri 11am-3pm, 6pm-11pm; Sat & Sun 10am-11pm. For more information see their website www.kookaburra.sg .
