Escargot, escargot, you really need to hand it to the French. They cook anything that can crawl, and make everything taste so good! The escargot that I’ve tried before, have a very strong garlic and buttery smell from afar, but La Petite’s rendition did not involve the use of these, instead the sweetness of the snail was deeply captivated within the croissant. The bread was so good; it absorbed the essence of the juice from the escargot (6 pieces for $12) – it was heavenly!
If you are craving for some French fare, you can check out this tiny eatery at the corner of Serene Centre. It is a casual eatery where one needs to place their order with the cashier. Water is self service at the counter. Do not expect any service here.
By the time I was there for dinner, it was about 9pm. I was looking forward to try their Duck Confit but most of the food on the menu already sold out. I have to settle for what was still available.
Upon placing the order and making payment, the waiter/waitress will serve the bread and butter.
The Chicken Chop with Spaghetti was nice but a little more sauce would be preferred. The spaghetti was Al Dente. The chicken was tender and moist.
The Salmon was cooked perfectly. Pink inside with a delicious crispy skin. The spinach side and the cream sauce gave the dish a good balance of flavours.
Last time when i went there, their menu was quite limited but now got more choice to choice from
I ordered chicken liver salad & the filled salmon pasta
The salad was great, the livers were perfectly cooked so they were still slightly runny inside, the sauce wasn’t too sour. It’s a bit much for one person but perfect to share
The pasta is stuffed with a salmon puree & served with a light cream based lemon butter sauce,This is really good & not too rich or heavy either.
I went during weekend so it was abit packed, come here during weekday is better
Overall i rate 8/10

my favourite dish was the dory with white wine butter and rice ($12.50). the fish was soft and nicely flakey and the sauce, oh-my--gosh. it was lip-smackingly gooooooood! slightly sourish and really really tasty, i absolutely loved it xD
the sirloin steak with french frites and salad ($15) was pretty good too. the taste of beef was slightly strong for my liking, but the meat was tender which was nice. and the horseradish mustard that came with it completely masked the strong taste, and made it absolutely lovely. the fries that came with it were delicious, probably because they were really salty i guess once in a while won\'t kill! (:
the fillet of chicken with cepes and butter rice ($13) was really creamy and cheesy. absolutely rich with flavour, but too overwhelming, in my opinion.
i resisted trying the confit de canard with french frites ($16.50) because i wanted to reduce my intake of deep fried food! but i tried the sauce, and it was YUMMY. and according to the rest, the duck had a lovely crispy skin and soft meat, without being too oily. so if you come to this restaurant, go for it!
what was impressive at this restaurant was the service! it\'s a really tiny restaurant, inside only has three tables, and a couple more outside, and the cooking area is right next to the dining area with an open concept. the friendly chef comes out of the kitchen to greet all the guests and to enquire about their meal. i think it\'s really sweet (:
Wow, I\'m surprised that I\'m the first here to write a review of this place!
La Petite Cuisine is an authentic, unpretentious and humble French cuisine restaurant that is tucked away at a corner of Serene Centre. It is not overly priced, very affordable for its quality and not to worry; it really wouldn\'t burst your wallet! Oh, there is no service charge and GST as well. This never fails to be packed especially during dinner time over the weekends. This place also does not take reservations; water is self-service and they don’t do fancy ambience or cutleries. Nevertheless, customers are still constantly flocking over. You can choose to sit in the air-condition area outside the restaurant (or a table or two, though), just outside the restaurant (outdoors) or by the garden with candle lights.
My boyfriend and I read the reviews and recommendations first online to help us decide on what to order. Finally, I came to a decision to order the popular Duck Confit with Potato Gratin for my main course. Oh yes, a warm and soft bread roll with butter will be served to you first.
The Duck Confit with Potato Gratin only cost $16.50. This would come across as expensive to me only if the dish is horribly micro waved. But no, the duck meat was so tender and juicy that it fell off the bone so easily.. the duck skin was crispy enough to my liking too. The potato gratin tasted like potato salad but more buttery.. I\'m not a fan of butter-packed stuff but I guess it was alright as the potato chunks were neither too hard nor mushy.
The dish really impressed me and I\'ll definitely come back for more next time.
PS: I am generally a small eater and the dish was just-nice for me. Bigger eaters might want to order more dishes, maybe try the Appetizers!
