Montessori Phonics/Reading

This programme will assist your child to learn to read and write through Montessori graded phonics activities. Areas will include:

• Cover 44+ phonemes
• Recognise elements in rhyming words.
• Identify vowel and consonant sounds.
• Develop word building skills through spelling
• Develop vocabulary.
• Improve listening skills.
• Develop sight word recognition skills.
• Grammar
• Creative Writing (Applicable to Workgroup 4)

Montessori Mathematics

This programme allows your child to develop a stronger foundation in Mathematics. Montessori Mathematics will help your child to develop a far more concrete foundation than just basic numbers taught in traditional classrooms. Areas will include:

• Numerals up to 10,000.
• Introduction to power of ten, counting through, recognising quantities, linking symbols with quantities.
• Introduction to teens (eg. 11-99).
• Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication and Division.
• Arithmetic tables.

Practical Life Exercise

The Exercise of Practical Life, which are the foundation of a Montessori environment, provides a wholesome activities which allow your child to develop control and coordination of movement, awareness of his/her environment, good work habits, responsibility, concentration, attention, independence, order and positive self-image which can be attained through spontaneous and powerful work.

Cultural Subjects

We emphasise on the well-balanced development of your child. Your child will learn about other cultural subjects to broaden their perspective in life. The subjects include the following:

• Nature study. The study of living and non-living things. Children will explore and understand their environment.
• Botany and Zoology. The study of plants and animals. Children will classify impressions into clear and simple categories.
• Geography. Children will explore the world’s physical environment. They will be introduced to various continents, countries, states, land and water form and the solar system.
