I found myself one day in a conversation with God   We talked about small things like sports, style, health and the weather   He asked about my friends and what kinds of things we'd be doing   And then he asked about my life and what kinds of seeds I'd was sowing   And I confessed I wasn't sure   And he said, Maybe you should be sure      But all I really want from you is a warm embrace   A moment or two set aside some time together   Think of me as if I were always with you in that place   My child, all I need is your love      He said, Son I'm very proud of you   You've done most of what I've asked you to   And I fell to my knees   And said, Daddy listen to me please   I don't deserve it   I'm vain and unworthy   I lie and cheat and tend to be proud   I'm bitter and corrupt and at times I doubt that you're even there      And all I want to see is your face   Just for a moment to let me know one day we'll be together   You know how hard it can be living down here in this place   All I need is your love      And then he kissed me on the cheek   And he, he gave my hand a squeeze   And said, forget about the lies, forget about the cheating   Forget about unworthy, forget about deserving   Forget about corrupt, forget about the pride and the doubt   I knew that it would happen   And I forgive it all the same   I know that you aren't perfect   But you're still my child   Yes you're still my child      And all I want from you is a warm embrace   A moment or two, set aside, to spend some time toegether   Think about me as if I were always with you in that place   My child, all I need is your love
