smiles aren't enough.   we touch and talk about   the things that make us tough.   we don't agree on much, yet.   careful with love.   it takes a stab wherever it's   boney arm can shove.      then twists inside your lungs.   nobody has to know   what we have/haven't done.   keep it to yourself.      send out your doves,   may they return with branches of   olive soaked in blood   of men who lost their lives at sea.   careful with hate   it burns a hole wherever its   spiteful eyes can gaze.      the radio's off   cause we know all the songs   we've read all our books   because the tv doesn't turn on.
