I can't put my finger on how I got here   Or where exactly I anticipated it to go   All I know is I wanted him to stay near   He never noticed that I felt so alone   So I did everything to get his attention   And went out shopping for some new clothes   Everything that I did wasn't at my disgression   I think I was becoming his female clone      And Jacob told me that I would look cute   If I bought this one certain kind of shoe   But when I showed up the next day with them on   His expression was still spacey and gone      When I finally got the nerve to talk to him   It felt as if I was living in a dream   My patience was nothing short of going thin   Just to think that he even noticed me   Call it a schoolgirl crush or lame as it gets   But I never felt that way much before   He was going to be my baby, or so I would bet   And now I guess he made me settle the score      Jacob told me that I'm not being lame   I guess it's fair to say I begged to differ   At least one time he said my name   Then I found that he got back with her      Then he got sent away for breaking the law   I was surprised to say I didn't care   Now when I look back on how I did it all   It's true at least that life is never fair   He was everything I look for in a guy   But I really I never got to feel his joy   And rumor had it that he had an open mind   His myspace said that he was also into boys      Jacob told my friend he already has someone   But she never told him that I wished it was me   I was never the one to which he would run   And the story ends that we were never meant to be
