O Lady Liberty
you cast your light to a stormy sea
you offer visions of a golden
rainbow for all to see
you offer hopes of freedom and prosperity
to the world but they are blinded and can not see
that this vision that you offer comes at a cost and is not free
You offer entry to a land of poverty
Freedom and justice are only for those who can afford to pay
You don't mention that this is the American way.
Our flag used to have integrity
but is now only a tattered remnant of what it used to be.
Our ill sleep in the streets with clothes that are tattered and torn
You turn your head in Self-righteous contempt and scorn
Turn off your light and let darkness rule the day
There is no Land of Liberty left here today
