a year ago today i lost my love to the sea   she was wearing that old red hat   that's what they told me   and if you could've seen her in it   you would understand my pain      two years ago today   we were drinking champagne on the shore   she was reading poetry    and i was watching her   and if you could've seen the wind blow her hair   you would understand my pain      but i swear i could've seen her yesterday   walking hand in hand   out of the barber shop in a new white dress   with that old fashioned banker man
