It was my first time runnin' away from home
And I didn't have any money back then
And I didn't really have anywhere I could go
My friend in Vincennes had the first Dinosaur 7"
And it had their address right on the back of it

So I decided that I should go see J
I'd see what he had to say
Maybe he had some advice for me
And I read in this interview that he did
That he still lived in the same house as when he was a kid

I traded in my electric guitar for this one
It was a piece of junk
And I traded it for this piece of junk
I started to learn how to play just a little bit each day
I think it's the best decision I've ever made

I packed my car and I drove to the east coast
I didn't think I was comin' home
It was my first time on the road
I pulled into Amherst in the middle of the night
And right away by accident found his street sign

And there was his name written above the door
With a wagon in the driveway
I had found the place for sure
And I decided that I should not bother him
Besides I really didn't want to pull back that curtain

I hung out for a few days and I got to see them play
In this tiny little place and it was the perfect show
And as J soloed I started to miss my friends
I clicked my heels together and said,
"There's no place like home"
