Clean Lyric
Paragraph Lyric
I still remember that sticky summer and how the southern air filled my lungs.
I can recall its purity and how it made me feel so far from home.
And I’m craving broken lines, street signs, long drives and another cheap ciggarette.
I yearn for summer time, state lines, the Lehigh and a taste of a different life.
My life moves at a faster speed.
It brings the odds against me.
If i wasn’t waiting for the lottery, would I be where I want to be?
I lost the right to apologize, I’ve wasted time, I can’t confide in the things that I used to.
I fear the 9 to 5, the work, eat, sleep, repeat and waiting for the week to end.
My knees feel weak and my stomach turns, I see more cracks in my face
and by now I should have learned
to throw in the towel and wipe this sweat,
accept my fate and put my dreams to rest.
