I ordered the ham and cheese french toast and I enjoyed devouring it with their fries. Nice place to hang out with your girlfriends as the place also offers a simple yet nice ambiance.
Any takers for their chocolate eclair? At least it's tastier than some of the more generic ones out there...:)
Appetizing bread only at Maison Kayser ^^
The delightful chocolate eclair can become one of your favorites any time of the day....;)
Maison Kayser is in Singapore and the French bakery is opened at Scotts Square basement 1 (in Orchard Road/Scotts Road area). The bakery is from Paris/ France and the breads got a nice french taste to it (something like De Paul Bakery). The breads are not cheap but all of the breads look so nice to eat. Good thing the bakery let mrupupup try out their breads with different flavours like nuts or fruits. If you like tarts or eclairs, the bakery also sells and the items look good. Mrupupup bought one bread with chocolate (with photo) -\'pain au chocolate\' (french words - meaning bread with chocolate). Maison Kayser is also an outlet where one can sit down to slowly enjoy the bread with coffee.
Heard about this place from a friend... he said the pastries were great and, since Scotts Plaza is still pretty new, most people don\'t know about it and it\'s still quiet.
So, decided we\'d check it out for breakfast on a weekend. Arrived slightly before 11am on a Saturday and easily got a table. There were breakfast sets with espresso and 2 pastries for about $10.I had a croissant/pain au chocolat and the boyfriend had a croissant/apple turnover. They were among the best we\'ve had in Singapore - flaky outside, soft inside, real chocolate filling (not the plasticky stuff they use at BreadTalk).
Anyway, we paid for breakfast then went up to the counter to see what they had for bread loaves. They were giving samples of their tomato bread and it was *divine*.We took a loaf of that and of the ciabatta which is also excellent. In the past 3 weeks since I first visited, I\'d stopped by 3 times for the bread. If you prefer European style breads that aren\'t sweet, you\'ll love it!
I have heard the eclairs here are good, so Ibought a couple of eclairs, which are perhaps this bakery’s most popular, hot selling items. I got the Eclair Chocolat ($3.45) and Eclair Vanille ($3.45). I was expecting perhaps delifrance sized eclairs, but these eclairs are longer at about 15cm a piece. The chocolate eclair is also a little skinner than the vanilla one. The chocolate eclairs come in two different versions- one dark chocolate and the other milk chocolate with praline(?). I had the dark chocolate one and I was impressed by the intense dark chocolate topping on top and the very fresh, sweeter chocolate cream inside. But the pastry was a little dense and it would be great if it had been fluffier. The vanilla eclair was also quite nice; the topping and generous fresh cream filling had a strong vanilla taste to it, especially with the little black vanilla pods floating on the vanilla topping.

Maison Kayser is yet another Japanese inspired French bakery located at the basement of Scotts Square. There are seats in the basement for dine in customers, but be warned, you will be charged additional service and GST charges for lounging around with bread and coffee. So if you are on a budget and don\'t crave for coffee, go for takeaway. (Or head to the nearest Ya Kun for your coffee fix).
Perhaps there weren\'t many people when I visited, but the guy behind the counter was super nice to me. He offered to let me sample almost all the bread available and even explained the flavours and ingredients of each bread with great detail. At one point of time he even sliced up a new piece of bread, just so I could sample it. I felt somewhat obligated to buy something from him from that point.
BTW all the breads have french name and being the country bumpkin that I am, I couldn\'t really make out the names. I managed to try a couple of breads like Thé Orangé (with the french accents please. It\'s earl grey flavoured bread with orange rinds), Pain Aux Yuzu (moist bread with yuzu flavour). I\'m actually very impressed by the nice citrus flavours of these breads and how incredibly moist and soft their insides are. I could imagine how well they would go with butter or truffle oil. (drools). I was also wowed by their Delice Blanc, a delightful soft bread infused with white chocolate flavour. In the end, I decided to get Campagne Gorogonzola ($5.40) which combines walnut bits in an incredibly soft, fluffy bread with subtle blue cheese flavour. The blue cheese flavour isn\'t too overwhelming, I like that the taste of cheese comes through as you chew on the bread. When I ate the bread the next day, it didn\'t turn too hard and still retained a certain moist and softness.
I really like that the breads here are freshly baked and of high quality. I would come here to splurge on breads once in a while!
Located at the new Scott Square, this elegant bakery serves a wide range of good quality pastries, breads, sandwiches etc.I had the Croissant Aux Amande ($3.8). It is actually the traditional French almond croissant. The plain croissant is stuffed with flavourful almond cream, then dipped in light syrup and baked again to give a crispy texture. The slightly sweet taste is so satisfying too! Thumbs up!Spending: Approximately SGD 5(Tea)
