What is urea-formaldehyde resin?

Urea-formaldehyde (U-F) resin is a highly cross-linked thermosetting polymer primarily made up of urea and formaldehyde witb formaldehyde acting as the cross-linker. The U-F reaction is acid-curing and heat accelerated for forming a rigid, crystalline-like polymer. U-F resins are noted for their fast cure, high strength, and low cost attributes. Due to their reactive nature, U-F resins are some of the fastest curing resins available. At high temperature, they can be cured in as little time as 2 seconds in some applications. 

LIQUID UREA-FORMALDEHYDE RESINS

Borden liquid UF Resins give tough durable bonds with economics that make them first choice in many large volume applications, especially the production of boards and panels (including doors). Particleboard and MDF laminated with wood veneer, HPL or papel foil are among the well established uses of BORDEN UF adhesive.

A wide range of powder and liquid hardeners is available. The latter are increasingly used in continuous processes with separate application or mixed metering systems.
