Wow! The food there is really amazing! I study at Singapore polytechnic and i went there for lunch with some classmates and it was seriously worth the money! Although the portions were slightly small but the side dishes covered for it! We tried their cheese fries, chicken & fish baked rice and fish & chips! The environment there was also very relaxing. Great for relaxing after a long morning!

One of the favourite foods to have during lunch break as the shop is located quite near to my school. also, as a student, you can get to enjoy their student price from 11am to 6pm daily, except for weekend. Their fish and chip are quite crispy and delicious, but sometimes the standard might drop. The only thing that i don\'t like is the coleslaw they served. tasted kinda weird to me. Otherwise, the fries and the fish fillets are yummy, but portion can be a little bit small sometimes :/
Fish & chips [student meal $5 nett together with a drink] I like to go to Grassroot Club near my school [NYP] to have lunch. The naked fish shoppe serves food of good quality. The fish and chips here always don\'t fail to attract people. there is quality and also quantity with cheap price. Crispy batter, fresh dory fish, thick cut fries together with refreshing salad, it was very filling.
grilled fish with cream sauce The dory fish is not very fresh, but still edible. I like the garden salad a lot, its fresh and crunchy. I always love the baby carrot, so cute!!stew oxtail with brown sauce The sauce is nice, and it\'s quitee strong, so not everyone will like it. Anyway i love this! It makes me think back the one i ate in Macau, the Portuguese set meal there is so nostalgia! The coffee which is included in the set mea, but served after our main course. weird?
The name of this dish is Cock N Bull! It\'s basically Chicken chop and steak topped with mushroom sauce, with fries and mixed vegetables as the sides! It\'s a pretty generous portion for the student meal. All in all, no regrets! Love love it. Mushroom sauce was just right, not too salty. Would definitely eat this again!Spending: Approximately SGD 8.90(Lunch)
Thinking of where to settle your lunch/dinner at an affordable price? Do Come to The Naked Fish Shoppe which was inside the Grassroot located beside Nanyang Polytechnic. Took a ride to Yio Chu Kang and about a 2 mins walking distance (: They have quite a number of choice an such an attractives prices. The student price menu include Spaghetti , Fish Baked Rice, Fish n Chips at $5, Steak $9.50 and Cock n Bull ( includes chix and steak) at $8.50. All the meal include a drink (ice lemon tea / Lime Juice) I chose Fish n Chips for my lunch today and the taste was pretty nice. The beverage for me is Lime Juice which is awesome as it is not that sour but just nice The Fish was very soft and juicy with fries and Croslaw at the side of the plate (:
Me and my friends decided to vist this restauarant on our long study break on a thursday afternoon. The ambience of the restuarant is good , as it was lunch time the seats were filled up quite qucikly. As it was located beside NanYang Polytechnic , the restaurant also caters to students , for lunch promotions at only SGD 5 dollars , inclusive of a drink . The fish is fresh and tender , a just nice portion without getting too bloated . I would encourage students nearby Grassroot Club to try this good deal !
I like to go to Grassroot Club near my school [NYP] to have lunch. The naked fish shoppe serves food of good quality. Many nypians passing by the linkway everyday must surely have seen this huge sign along the linkway to school, screaming out its irresistible offer of $5 set meals for students. I was one of those students and after school one faithful day, i decided to try out the place after listening to my friend\'s recommendation and since it was near the school. The restaurant was hidden at the far corner of the country club (its inside Grassroots Country Club) and we were quite surprised to see the restaurant jammed packed with people. There were no seats at first, but one group apparently stormed off and we took their seats with an uneasy feeling.
fish & chips ($5) The fish and chip is tasty and cheap so i like to dine there!! Crispy battered skin, fresh and soft fillet in quite a big size, nicely deep fried fries and refreshing coleslaw, this is perfect for lunch or dinner. Quite filling too. The staff were quite friendly and the service provided was quite efficient. I ordered the student meal which is $5. Fish and chips and a lemon juice.fish baked rice ($6) The fish given is quite generous. But the baked rice is just so so..
The chicken is very tender and it is very generous with the serving. The black pepper sauce goes very well with the chicken and the side dishes were marvellous. The cold potato salad is very chill and I am not sick of the taste. Overall, it is nice to consume however, the price is a bit expensive for a coffee shop.Spending: Approximately SGD 8.80(Dinner)
I decided to go back to the Naked Fish Shoppe to try the breaded chicken. The other time I was there, i had ordered the fish n chips and it was really good. The very attractive sudent meal promotion had attracted me to the restaurant. It was really crowded so it took a while for us to be served. The waiter was very friendly. I ordered the breaded chicken. It came together which peas and fries. The chicken was a bit oily but it still tasted good.
fish & chips A 3 min walk from the school. As it was lunch time, it was quite crowded. however we managed to get seats. Fish and chips and a lemon juice. Spending: Approximately SGD 5(Lunch)
grilled fish fillet with thai sauce ($10.2) the fish fillet is big in size, and lightly pan fried. the potato cubes are fried and the long beans and carrot are broiled. the sauce used is thai sour and spicy sauce, a lil\' too watery. The dish is just normal i would say.grilled sirloin steak w black pepper sauce ($9.8 inclusive of soup, dessert and drinks) the sirloin steak is about 7-8 cooked, quite a thick piece. I seriously in love with the grilled / caramelised onion, nice tasted with the black pepper sauce. however the beef was a lil\' weird, idk what\'s weird, but it tasted like not very fresh. Fries were just normal. Their fish & chip is still my favourite.Spending: Approximately SGD 10(Lunch)
I was attracted to the deal that the Naked Fish shoppe was offering to students. I decided to have lunch with my friend since it is really near my sch, NYP. A 3 min walk from the school. As it was lunch time, it was quite crowded. however we managed to get seats. The staff were quite friendly and the service provided was quite efficient. I ordered the student meal which is $5. Fish and chips and a lemon juice. The food was quite value for money and the chips crispy and the fish was tasty.Would definitely make another trip there soon.
Ate this for about 5-6 times already but this fish & chip still don\'t fail to impress me. I think this will be the nicest fish and chips i had. Crispy battered skin, fresh and soft fillet in quite a big size, nicely deep fried fries and refreshing coleslaw, this is perfect for lunch or dinner. Quite filling too.lemon butter sauce parrot fish fillet Chinese Asian flavour and cooking style. The rice was quite fragrant. the kai-lan vege and carrot with gravy were so chinese style. The parrot fish fillet was very thick and big in size, being panfried first and then poured with lemon butter sauce, it tasted nice!Went here with one friend of mine and we had a voucher (spent minimun $10 to get a fish&chips for free) so we shared this two plates and each only $7.40.Spending: Approximately SGD 7.4(Dinner)
I like to go to Grassroot Club near my school [NYP] to have lunch. The naked fish shoppe serves food of good quality.Tomato cream soup with garlic baguette. [add $1.20 if having student meal / included in "Fishermen catch"] The soup is creamy and rich with tomato flavour. But that day the serving is quite small, just a bit more than half of the bowl. The toasted garlic baguette is fragrant with garlic flavour, and taste nice with tomato soup. A good starter/appetizer coz the soup is a lil\' sour, and best tasted when it\'s raining day, coz the soup is warm!Fishermen catch [$9.50] With finger-size fish, fired battered prawn and breaded calamari, this whole plate was very big one. All are fresh seafood and this is actually tastier than other restaurant [not to mention]. The salad also very refreshing and tasty.Fish & chips [student meal $5 nett together with a drink] The fish and chips here always don\'t fail to attract people. there is quality and also quantity with cheap price. Crispy batter, fresh dory fish, thick cut fries together with refreshing salad, it was very filling.Spending: Approximately SGD 10(Lunch)
It is hot lemon tea from The Naked Fish Shoppe restaurant at ang mo kio grassroot’s club. The taste for the plain lemon tea is just taste normal. However when I add the milk and sugar to the lemon tea, it tastes funny and weird. The hot lemon tea is not suitable to serve with milk. I felt disgusted

Many nypians passing by the linkway everyday must surely have seen this huge sign along the linkway to school, screaming out its irresistible offer of $5 set meals for students.

I was one of those students and after school one faithful day, i decided to try out the place after listening to my friend's recommendation and since it was near the school.

The restaurant was hidden at the far corner of the country club (its inside Grassroots Country Club) and we were quite surprised to see the restaurant jammed packed with people. There were no seats at first, but one group apparently stormed off and we took their seats with an uneasy feeling.

First off, the service was terrible. Not only were the staff VERY VERY slow, they were rude as well. I understand that we had to wait cause of the traffic flow (and ALL the servers were at least 60 years old?) and all, but did the discrimination had to so obvious? I mean, there we were waiting to order, etc, and a group of adults walked in and immediately got attended to, seriously? And yet the promotions were catered to the students?

We were not the only ones who felt that way though, as we could hear many complains from the tables about us. The service was so slow that there was even a queue starting to form at the cashier area.

Anyway, all three of us ordered fish and chips. We were told that we can not choose any other drinks other then pepsi (cause it was the only drink left). When the fish and chips came, my 2 guy friends were so disappointed by the small portion of the food. The fries were soggy and cold and the coleslaw was average. The fish however was pretty good (fresh, cripsy batter) but the portions were really small (2 small slices).

At the end of the dining 'experience', we were so disappointed that we all vowed never to come back again until they've done something to about their service attitude. I don't quite recommend anyone to dine here, but you can do so, when you can't sleep.

There was this point of time that I'd mistake Naked Fish Shoppe for Mahanttan Fish Market and friends would correct me leading to a sheepish, "Oh.. yeah". Now that I've tried the fish at these two places, I'm certain I'd never get them mixed up again.

Naked Fish Shoppe is located at Grassroots Club in between Yio Chu Kang mrt and Nayang Poly. Really convenient for me as my classmates and I could easily head down during lunch break or before/after school. Had lunch once on an off-peak weekday, NYP was having school holidays and staff service was relatively positive.

They have a set lunch promotion for everyone, walk-in or not. 5$ nett for a main course with a drink. $3.50 if you'd prefer your meal without. Set Lunch varieties are of 4 choices: fried chicken chop, fish and chips, hot dog bun with fries and beef bolognese.

Have tried the chicken chop and fish n chips so far. I'd like to say, I suspect both meat were marinated with the same ingredients. They both smelled and tasted almost the same, if it wasn't for the fact that chicken meat is tougher than fish, I probably wouldn't have been able to distiguish which is what. Still, for its price, the food wasn't too bad afterall. Crispy and has its strong bread crumbs fragrant. Slightly above average food court's standard. You could also ask for a switch from coleslaw to garden veggies if you're not a fan of the former. Also order a mushroom soup that afternoon, don't if you do have any slight intention for it. It was bland, starchy and hardly contained any mushroom in it, totally uncalled for. Bad, really bad.

The only pointer I hate is that the chili and tomato sauce come in packets. This not only takes time to open and squeeze every single serving onto my plate but it also contributes harm to the environment, go green and save our planet.
