In July, 2006, LG showed that it has other mobile phones in addition to the LG Chocolate. The LG U300 is a bargain price 3G clamshell mobile phone that's one of the lightest one available. It measures 96 mm x 50 mm x 22 mm and weighs in at 93 grams. There is a choice of case color between orange and chameleon, but once you get past the funky orange color, the phone is not much different than any other.
It incorporates a rotating 1.3 MP camera, an expandable microSD slot and an included 128MB. It also has Bluetooth with the capability of stereo. The feature set and the price tag on the LG U300 is a large plus factor in the marketability of the phone.
Two displays are featured.
The external display provides the caller ID, signal strength, battery life, and time and date. The STN external display is monocromatic and measures 96 by 64 pixels. The internal display is TFT with 262 K colours and measures 176 by 220 pixels.
The ringtones include 64 voice polyphonic, MP3 and AAC. Messaging is another good feature in the LG U300 with MSN Messenger, Email, MMS, EMS, and SMS for all your different media types.
Photo caller ID, WAP 2.0 and Bluetooth or ISB connectivity are additional positive features. There is 8 MB of memory and a 128 MB MicroSD memory card.
You have a good selection of Java games
The quality of the music player is top rated with full support when using the Bluetooth headset which is included in the package. Multiple formats for the music player includes MP3, AAC, Enhanced AAC+, AMR and WMA. Adequate music storage is provided by the 128 MB memory card which is included. The music player itself ranks higher than average. For a 3G phone, the battery life is better than average. Recharging can happen by way of a USB cable.
A 1.3 megapixel camera with its 2x digital zoom adds to the usability of the phone. The video camera is in MPEG4 format.
Of course, the 3G video calling is what sets this phone apart from all others.
Battery ratings are set at 135 minutes for talking time and standby mode registers at 220 hours.
