Introducing A Mixed Breed Poodle Into The Home

By: Lisaacollins
Dog lovers are turning away from the once favored purebred dogs in favor of mixed breeds. Most of these mixed breed dogs are designer dogs. In the not so distant past these dogs would have been called mutts and shunned, but in today's world dog owners can't seem to get enough of these mixed breeds. One of the more common designer dogs being sought out are mixed breed that includes the Poodle as part of its background. Some of these mixed Poodle breeds probably started out as a mistake but as interest in the breed combination grew, dog breeders started deliberately mixing the gene pool.

It doesn't matter what the breed combination is, dog owners can't get enough of them. Mixed poodle breeds are among the most popular designer dogs currently on the market. The irony is that it was only a few years ago that dog breeders would have been horrified at the idea of combining two different dog breeds. On the rare occasions that this did happen the breeders knew that there was very little chance that they would be able to sell the crossbred puppies, the best they could hope for was that they would be able to give the puppies away.

Designer Poodle breeds include a Cockapoo (Cocker Spaniel and Poodle), a Boxerdoodle (a Boxer and a Poodle) and an Aussiedoodle (an Australian Shepard and Poodle cross). Dog lovers who purchased a mixed breed Poodle instead of the purebred did so for a reason. Some owners of the designer Poodles will tell that cost was a motivating factor behind the purchase, that the mixed breed puppy was considerably cheaper then the purebred puppy.

Some dog owners had found that the company who owned their homeowners insurance policy considered the family dog a high-risk breed, by combining that breed with another breed the dog owner was able to lower their monthly house insurance payment.

Other mixed breed poodle owners loved the fact that they now had an athletic dog that loved to be outside but was laid back enough to double as a house dog. Dog owners discovered after purchasing a mixed breed poodle their house insurance premium decreased. Combining Poodles and other breeds of dogs has helped cut down on the genetic illnesses common to many dog breeds. Dog owners that have a mixed breed Poodle love the fact that they can choose between a large framed dog or one small enough to fit in a teacup.

If you have never before owned a Poodle mix there are something's you should consider before rushing to the nearest breeder and bringing home a puppy. The first is to really thing about the types of breeds involved in the breeding. Every single breed of dog has some wonderful characteristics, just like every single breed of dog has some traits that aren't so desirable.

Ask what their experiences with the dog have been. See if you can spend some time with the dog, while visiting with the mixed breed poodle try to imagine it in your home. Invest some time researching both breeds. Some puppies bear a stronger resemblance to one of the breeds than it will to the other breed

Spend time with both of the puppies' parents, a parent with quirky personality will normally have a puppy who shares the same personality. Be confident, if you have any doubts at all don't bring the puppy home, wait until you find the dog that best suits you and your family's lifestyle.
