Shireen Mitchell is the Executive Officer of Digital Sisters/Sistas Inc. She is a technology equity specialist. Author of the essay “Gaining Daily Access to Science and Technology” in the book “50 Ways to Improve Women’s Lives”. Ms. Mitchell has over twenty years of technology and human services experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities, women, seniors and youth. She continues to advocate and provide support to underrepresented communities. Ms. Mitchell is currently focused on issues of diversity, technology and financial literacy particularly for women headed households. She currently provides training and planning for schools, community technology centers, job skills development programs and ongoing initiatives of Digital Sisters.

Shireen was a Young Woman of Achievement Nominee in 2002; She was awarded an Outstanding Community Technology Leader in 2003; elected board member and current Vice President of the Community Technology Centers’ Network (CTCNet); the Washington Area Women’s Foundation Leadership Award; and The March of Dimes’ Heroine in Technology. She was the Younger Women’s Taskforce Co-Chair, a project of the National Council of Women’s Organizations, where she is currently the youngest steering committee member in the history of the Organization.

Digital Sisters is a 501 (c) 3 organization in the Washington DC Metropolitan area focused on promoting and providing technology education and enrichment for women and children who are traditionally underserved.
