BIOGRAPHY Stage name: JamilaThe word Extraordinaire is an adjective word that describes a person who possesses extraordinary skills at a particular discipline. Unlike most English words it is an adjective that comes after the skill. Jamila indeed have such extra-ordinary dancing skills. Born in Beijing, the capital city of China, Jamila came from an artistic family. Her father Wang Ming Ke is a celebrated painter who specializes Chinese water paintings. Jamila was trained as a piano player since the age of 8. She acquired an acute skill for musical rhythms. Her musical background provided strong fundamentals of what is become her forte of Belly dancing – originality. Jamila began Belly-dancing in 2005 under local teachers as well as International Masters. She went to Cairo to polish up her skills regularly.These teachers include Mr and Mrs Hossam & Serena Ramzy, Madam Raqia Hassan,Dr Mo Geddawi, Prof.Hassa Khalil & Nuriyya, Azzia, Sandra, Kaeshi, Tito, Magdy, Dina, Doaa and many more. Using her versatile talent, Jamila often blends the traditional and modern styles of belly-dance into lively choreographies of visual beauty. Her forte has been Middle Eastern Classical dance form with props that include Drums with zills, double veils, fan veil, poi-veil, wing of isis and cane. Jamila has made a name for herself in the belly-dancing industry when she won the inaugural Global-Asia belly- dance Competition 2006 as a soloist. In 2009, she was the winning belly-dance troupe in Singapore. Over the years, she was invited to perform in many events such as the Singapore Street festival, F1 race shows, Concert at the Esplanade ,Youth Olympic game Closing festival 2010 in YOV,Chingay 2011 and many charity shows. Her audiences include President S.R Nathan and MM Lee Kuan Yew. May 2009, she represented Singapore to appear on Vietnam HCM TV station for the Golden Flower Beauty Pageant. October 2009, she was invited as guest performer by Guangxi Satellite Television Station. She was also invited by the Guangxi Institute of Art to give Seminar on the Art of Belly-dancing. January 2010, she taught belly-dance for 16 episodes on Singapore Channel 8's popular television program "Good Morning Singapore". The programs received very high television ratings. Sep 2010 - she performed on Channel 5's TV show, One Moment of Glory, and she was very popular with the audiences. Feb 2011,Jamila and her dance troupe performed for Chingay 2011 event. Oct 2011 - Jamila and her dance team had 1st bellydance Musical concert at NUS Theater. Oct 2011 - Jamila achieved in Professional traditional solo- silver award in Korea International bellydance competition.
