Services
The following include hand conditions which are managed by our hand specialists:

Hand Injuries
Hand Injuries, ranging from simple lacerations to finger tip injuries, tendon injuries, crush injuries and amputations, are treated with great care and professionalism in every case.
Hand Fractures
Fractures of the fingers need to be carefully assessed and may often require surgery to ensure stability and healing in the optimum position so as to ensure correct alignment and function.
Amputations
Amputations of fingers, upper limb and lower limb are devastating injuries which require careful assessment for suitability for replantation and are performed using microsurgical techniques.
Nerve Compressions
Nerve compressions result in numbness, pain, weakness and loss of function of the hand. Appropriate investigations including nerve conduction studies and electromyography are done and surgical decompression is sometimes necessary. These can now be done using minimally invasive techniques with scope-assisted surgery.
Wrist Ligament Injuries
Wrist ligament injuries from sports or other trauma can cause debilitating pain and loss of function. Arthroscopy can be done for both diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for management of wrist injuries.
Degenerative Arthritis
Degenerative arthritis involving the small joints of the hand and wrist can be treated with splinting, medication and surgery which may include joint fusion or joint replacement.
Inflammatory Arthritis
Inflammatory arthritis of the hand and wrist may require splinting, medication, surgery to remove inflamed tissues, replace joints or fuse joints to improve function and appearance.
Soft Tissue or Bone Defects
Soft tissue or bone defects can result from trauma, tumour or infection. In severe cases, microsurgical reconstruction with free vascularised bone, muscle or skin flaps may be necessary.
Congenital Hand Deformities
Congenital hand deformities are rare, but often correctable or can be improved with surgery.
Brachial Plexus Injuries
Brachial plexus injuries are devastating, affecting the group of nerves supplying the upper limb, resulting in paralysis of the arm and hand. Microsurgical reconstruction can help to restore some of the function.
Other Hand Conditions
Other hand conditions affecting the function of the hand, such as stroke, cerebral palsy and cervical spine injuries (tetraplegia), can be improved with therapy and/or surgery.
