Dr Chan Tiong Beng Consultant Respiratory Physician MBBS, MMED, FAMS, FCCP (USA)
Dr Chan is a Respiratory Specialist at Mount Elizabeth Medical Centre. He was previously a Senior Consultant (Respiratory Unit) at the National UniversityHospital and an Associate Professor (Medical Department) at the National University of Singapore. Dr Chan also served as a President of the Singapore Thoracic Society (1992 - 1993) and Asthma Association (1986 - 1998). At present, Dr Chan is serving as a Specialist in the Specialist Medical Board, Military Medicine Institute, Singapore Arm Forces and in the Subordinate Court's Mediation Panel.
Dr Chan received his MBBS (1976) and Master of Medicine (Internal Medicine) (1981) from the National University of Singapore. He is a fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore and College of Chest Physician, USA. He has published more than 60 papers both in International and Local Respiratory Journals on topics of cough, respiratory tract infections, asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and has contributed chapters in local Respiratory publications. Over the years, he continued to be an Invited Speaker or Chairman to many Local and Regional Respiratory meetings.
His main area of interest and research is in the field of Chronic Cough, Community Acquired Pneumonia, Respiratory Infections in the Immuno-compromised Hosts, Asthma and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease.
