ACE inhibitors can be lifesavers for individuals who are at a high risk for heart attack or stroke as well as for those who have high blood pressure, heart failure and suffer from type 2 diabetes. But like all medications, there are possible ACE inhibitors side effects that can occur in some individuals. Lets take a closer look at them.

Some people who take ACE inhibitors develop a cough. If you develop a cough that doesn't seem to want to go away or if your cough becomes severe, get in touch with your doctor and find out what kind of cough medicine would be best to get the cough under control.

A skin rash that is characterized by redness and itchiness is sometimes an ACE Inhibitors side effect and it could appear anywhere on the body. If you develop such a rash do not attempt to treat it yourself but instead schedule an appointment with your doctor to have it looked at.

Sometimes dizziness, lightheadedness or a feeling like you are about to faint as you attempt to get up out of bed or a chair is a possible ACE Inhibitors side effect. Those who suffer from this side effect notice it the strongest after they first begin taking the heart medication. The side effect is most common for those who are already taking a water pill (or diuretic). Take your time when getting up and do not rush yourself. If you continue to feel dizziness or lightheadedness or if it becomes severe do not hesitate to get in touch with your doctor.

Sometimes a variety of physical symptoms accompany taking ACE inhibitors which include pain in the chest, a sore throat, a fever, sores in the mouth, swelling of one or both feet and also swelling of the lower legs and/or ankles, an irregular or very quick heartbeat and strange bruising of skin in areas where there has been no injury. Some patients experience a metallic or salty taste in their mouth when they first begin taking this medication while others find that their ability to taste is dulled.

Other possible symptoms include swelling that takes place in the face, neck and sometimes the tongue. If you experience swelling in either of these parts of your body, get in touch with your doctor right away.

If you take ACE inhibitors then you need to have your potassium levels measured on a regular basis by way of blood tests as this is a side effect of this type of medication that can be potentially life threatening. There are signs that you have too much potassium in your system and they include a sense of confusion; fast or irregular heartbeat; tingling or numbness in the hands, lips or feet; nervousness; difficulty breathing or shortness of breath and a feeling of heaviness or weakness in the leg area.

Finally severe diarrhea or vomiting can be side effects of taking ACE inhibitors and can be harmful because it can lead to dehydration, which can then lead to low blood pressure. Always contact your doctor if you experience any of these symptoms.

After Radiation Side Effects

Aceon is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) and to prevent heart attack in people with coronary artery disease. It lowers blood pressure by relaxing blood vessels. Because high blood pressure levels can damage your kidneys, and may also lead to a stroke or heart failure.

Aceon Dosage

*The usual starting dosage is 4 milligrams daily and you can take it as a single dose or divided into two smaller doses. Your doctor may also increase the dosage until your blood pressure is under control, up to a maximum of 16 milligrams per day.

*Higher doses include 8 milligrams a day are prescribed for older adults only with extra caution.

Uses of Aceon

*Aceon is used to treat high blood pressure.

*This drug may also be used for heart failure or to help protect the kidneys in diabetes.

Side Effects of Aceon

*If any side effects develop, they are usually mild and are likely to disappear as therapy continues. However, if any do appear, inform your doctor as soon as possible. Only your doctor can determine if it is safe for you to continue taking Aceon.

More common side effects may include:

* Cough

* Dizziness

* Headache

* Leg pain

* Light-headedness

* Nasal inflammation

* Sore throat

* Upper respiratory infection

* Weakness

Warnings and precautions before taking Aceon

*If you develop signs of an allergic reaction (swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat; swollen arms and legs; difficulty swallowing or breathing) stop taking Aceon and contact your doctor immediately. You may need emergency treatment.

*Before using this drug, you should tell your doctor your medical history, including allergies, kidney problems, liver problems, heart or blood vessel diseases, history of angioedema, diabetes.

*You should also contact your doctor if you develop abdominal pain with or without nausea and vomiting. ACE inhibitors such as Aceon have been known to cause intestinal swelling.

*After taken this medicine, you may feel some dizzy, so do not operate any machine or do not drive that requiring full mental alertness.

*Do not use this medication without telling your doctor if you are pregnant or planning a pregnancy.

*Take this medication exactly as it was prescribed for you. Do not take the medication in larger amounts, or take it for longer than recommended by your doctor.

Drug Interaction :-

If you are taking Aceon with certain other drugs, then it may be increased, decreased, or altered the effects of medicine. So it is especially important to check with your doctor before combining Aceon with the following:

*Cyclosporine (Neoral, Sandimmune)

*Diuretics such as Aldactone, Diuril, Dyazide, Lasix, and Moduretic

*Indomethacin (Indocin)

*Potassium supplements such K-Lyte, K-Tab, and Slow-K

*Lithium (Eskalith, Lithobid, Lithonate)

*Digoxin (Lanoxin)

*Gentamicin (Garamycin)

Overdose

The most likely warning signs of an Aceon overdose are symptoms of excessively low blood pressure, including dizziness and light-headedness. If you suspect an overdose, seek medical attention immediately.

After taken Aceon if you feel that overdose is suspected, then you should contact with your doctor immediately. Because it may lead to another serious effect. Symptoms of a Aceon overdose may include:
