Baby Wearing Tips And Ideas

    View:
When you wear your baby it will be with a carrier. Wearing your baby means wearing your sling, ring sling, pouch or Mei Tai and having your baby with you wherever you go. Before someone starts wearing their baby they may think that babies should stay in their cribs most of the time and be up for feeding, playing, and changing. The concept of wearing your baby is a reversal of that idea. Your baby is with you most of the day to see and experience the events of your day. And if father wears the baby too, your baby will learn cues from not only his mother but also his daddy.

Your baby is more alert in the carrier and is in a moving, learning environment. Babies that are worn tend to cry, fret, and fuss less than babies who are not worn. Research has proven that sling babies are more alert, and watch and hear more sounds and sights from their surroundings. Baby wearing is beneficial to your baby emotionally and for mental development. Most carried babies grow to be independent quicker because they have reaped the benefits of security and learned about trust while riding in the sling.

Viewing the world from a better level where he sees more than the ceiling or people's knees aids in his mental development. If you want to hug or talk to your baby he is with you and you can immediately do so, thereby providing him more attention and affection immediately. Babies need to be reassured that mom is there. The sling or other style carrier helps you meet this need so that the baby can feel your presence and does not require as much verbal and eye stimulation as when in a crib or in another type of baby carrier Babies get accustomed to life outside of the womb faster when they are worn because your baby experiences the familiarity of your voice, your warmth, your heartbeat, your presence, and your breathing similar to the womb environment. This is wonderful for your baby's physical growth and development.

Some traditional baby carriers are made of simple cloth pieces like the pareos, shawls, wraps, and there are structured carriers like the podeagis, ring slings, and Mei Tai's. The pareos is forty-five inches long and wide or more. It is something like a sarong, which is a wrap around skirt. The shawl is thirty or more inches wide six or more feet long, similar to the Mexican rebozo. The wrap type of carrier is twenty or more inches wide and twelve or more feet long. It is like the saree. The pareo is a podeagis that has a sewn on strap. The Mei Tai is a carrier common to Asia; it is a rectangle and four straps are sewn onto it.

You can choose the style of carrier which will work best for your according to the correct one for the baby's age and physical development. If you have a toddler, you can still have your baby close to you while you play with your toddler. There are carriers for all sized infants and babies; from tiny to toddler, from infant to preschooler, you can find commercial and home made baby carriers to meet your needs.
