Building A Pole Barn

    View:
Since the age-old days of farming, pole barns have played a significant role in the lives of many people, particularly farmers. Until now, these structures serve as reliable storage for livestock and grain. For people who are interested in building their very own barns, procuring the right materials and knowing the proper way of creating them are crucial in the construction process. Aside from its functionality, pole barns are still popular these days because of their cost efficiency. For this reason, it is no longer a wonder why these structures are very much visible especially within rural and agricultural regions.

Basic Materials and Required Tools Needed in Building Pole Barns

Building pole barns is a relatively easy and simple process that requires easy-to-find materials. For the structural framework, people need to prepare several lumber woods, preferably the thick ones that will serve as a solid and stable foundation for the barns. Meanwhile, several steel sheets can be used to create the roof, which are reliable materials against rain and weathering. Furthermore, several cuts of plywood are perfect for the walls of the barns, which are used to contain the livestock as well as preserve grains.

Because building pole bars is such a simple thing to do, people only need a few set of tools in order to accomplish the task. Primarily, a shovel is needed to dig holes where the strong foundations of the barns are to be placed. Meanwhile, a sledgehammer is also necessary because people need something firm and solid to pound the foundations right into the holes. Furthermore, they also need a hammer as well as several nails to attach one particular building structure to another.

Quick and Simple Steps of Building Pole Barns

Every great building structure begins with a successful planning. The same is also true for building pole barns, especially when listing the different materials needed for such a simple building project. For those who are planning to use metal poles, experts advise to position these materials a little bit closer with one another. On the other hand, they believe that unlike the metal materials, wooden poles must be positioned somewhat far away from each other. However, each pole must stand at least 10 feet away from the other poles.

After a successful planning, people can start with the excavation. They must dig approximately 18-inches deep or more, depending on the size and length of the poles. After digging these holes up, they can now place the poles directly right into the holes. When all the poles are already inside their respectively holes, they can use cement to solidify the building framework.

When the structures are set, it is now time to pile the remaining materials. Use the steel sheets as roof, while the plywood can be used to make strong walls. The lumber wood can serve as support, making sure that the pole barns can stand strong winds and nasty weathers. Afterwards, truss the metal sheets to make sure that the entire structure in solidly in place, including the walls and the roof.

Additional Information

For safety purposes, people need to wear gloves when constructing pole barns in order to protect their hands from any possible harm. Additionally, insulators can be used to maintain a cooler temperature inside the structure, especially during the hot summer season. In order to save money, people need not purchase newer materials in building bars, for they can re-use old materials like poles, plywood and steel sheets.
