Everyone has, at one point or another heard of a bride-zilla, or worse yet, seen one. They are vicious creatures with the tendency to snap, scream, rant and yell. They are commonly spotted at weddings and are generally wearing white. While this description may sound like something off Animal Planet, it is none the less true! Brides that are stressed and uptight about their wedding day ? the biggest and most important day of their lives ? will turn into the dreaded bride-zillas and will not only ruin her day, but everyone else's too.



Here are some wedding planning tips so that you can remain cool, calm and collected during the planning stages of your wedding and on the actual day itself. First of all, if you are a picky bride and decide to plan the wedding yourself, give yourself time and command some troops. Give organized and willing friends and family members task lists and ensure that everyone does what they are supposed to by having little meetings every second week or so. This way you won't have to do everything, and still work at the same time. You can ensure that most of the major concerns are dealt with early enough so that any emergencies can be sorted out right away.

What ever you do, don't leave planning your wedding until the last minuet. If you do this you probably won't get the venue you want, the cake you would like, the perfect dress or the d'cor you really needed to transform your venue. Make sure that you do as much as you can well before the wedding day, and then you will have the chance to actually enjoy the building up to it and the actual day itself.

Don't be unrealistic. There are bound to be things that go wrong, but instead of shouting and throwing a fit, just go with the flow and try to make the most out of it. For example, if the DJ doesn't show up or cancels at the last minute, don't cry and scream and shout. This will not solve the problem and will only get everyone upset including you. Rather get the family member or friend who was in charge of this aspect of the planning to find another DJ or band, or even a wedding singer. Anything is better than nothing.

To minimize all possible catastrophes on her wedding day, a bride must be relaxed and ready in plenty of time. If you are having your wedding at a far away location, don't chance driving through, rather find a lovely hotel or guest lodge and stay overnight. If your budget won't allow for this, then don't have the venue so far from where you are getting ready. Make sure your dress and all your accessories, clips, pins, jewelry, shoes, stockings, garter, and anything you need are packed and ticked off your list the day before. Last minute rushing around will probably see you forget something important. So, to avoid going into bride-zilla mode, the trick is to be prepared and adopt a positive crisis management type of attitude.
