Clubs In Nyc 18 And Over

    View:
The two cities that never sleep - New York and Los Angeles. We all know the stars never sleep, so where are they going at night? It changes all the time as clubs gain and lose popularity, but we have the latest on where they are now. Many of them are chillin at their own clubs; of course, as we have seen a trend by the stars to actually purchase the clubs they later hang out in.

Jay Z's club in New York City, the 40/40 Lounge, opened up last year and is a combination watch-the-game-slash-lounge type bar. It's no surprise that once the happy hour crowd turns into the after dinner crowd, the music changes and the TVs are tuned out for the likes of beats by Jay Z and his girlfriend Beyonce. The club is in the flatiron district and contains private lounges and rooms and is quite the swank and sophisticated spot. It boasts many a celebrity sighting.

Bungalow 8 is another club - non-celebrity owned - that is typically reserved for those who have made a name for themselves in either Tinsel town or the Big Apple. This club is also in the 20's in New York, but instead of the east side it's in Chelsea on the west. Truly, it is so tiny and snobbish that only the privileged few can get past security. They will actually call you a helicopter to leave if you can't get a ride, should you be honored enough to get in in the first place. It is very South Beach, and since we aren't able to get to all the many South Beach bars the celebs frequent we figured we would give a shout out to Bungalow 8 in tribute.

Marquee, which is also in Chelsea, is another place where only the beautiful will survive or even be tolerated. Many models are seen here looking less than model-esque, often without makeup and still ridiculously beautiful. A very see and be seen kind of place, this club has sexy red walls and bold thick doors that will easily lock you out.

There are some clubs in New York that aren't just trendy or run by a hip hop mogul, but are serious about their food and the brainchildren of serious actors as well. Take Robert DeNiro's places, for example. The first is Nobu, which is seriously known for its sushi but also boasts a nicely done bar and a great reputation for some after-work ambience. New Yorkers are quite serious about their sushi, and DeNiro does not fail to please here. On the flip side, he also owns Tribeca Grill in (where else?) Tribeca, which is - as the name intimates - steaks and seafood fare.

Even Michael Jordan owns a restaurant in New York. His place is called The Steak House, and is known for its wine list and great chops and cuts. It is situated inside Grand Central Terminal, and has a separate wine salon and two private dining rooms beyond the regular dining room. It has a serious ambiance, and is more classic.

Believe it or not, the celebs are still seen at Monkey Bar. Monkey Bar has been around - in the center of town - for over 70 years and recently had a major make-over. The overhaul was much needed and turned out to be just what the monkey ordered; since spicing up the food and scene, the clientele has spiced up as well.

So what do we have on the west coast? A lot of plastic, a lot of sun and surf, and a lot of drinking in that sun and surf. L.A. may not be known to be as tough as New York, but it is every bit the star spotlight for partying.

Many celebs own clubs and restaurants out in Tinsel Town as well. Fairly well-known is The Viper Room, owned by Johnny Depp until 2004 when he sold it to the daughter of his silent partner to deal with legal issues. The club had a horrible reputation after River Phoenix died there of a drug overdose and later was the platform for many celebrity bar fights and paparazzi incidents. However, after it closed and reopened, the Viper Room is now a serious music club and hosts some great acts on a regular basis.

Blowfish is one of the most popular places to be seen in the celebrity world of Los Angeles. Owned by Julian Lennon among others, it is a hot spot for Lindsay Lohan and Tara Reid, but also for actors and actresses such as Denzel Washington, Nick Cage and Adam Sandler. It doesn't seem to be fading into the background anytime soon.

Believe it or not , the original Hard Rock Café still gets some attention out here. But for your best bets at star-sighting, the previously mentioned Viper Room, Sky Bar and famous Whiskey Bar are more than likely going to net you at least one celebrity on any given night.
