Stress is a major problem in the modern world, more than 50% of visits to see a doctor are related to stress in one way or another. One of the main reasons that stress is such a huge problem is that most people ignore it completely, either not noticing the symptoms or living in denial, thinking it'll pass or just wont effect them like it does everyone else.
Ignoring high levels of stress is a dangerous mistake, because it leads to many very serious health & mental problems including - heart disease, cancer, lung ailments, accidents, cirrhosis of the liver, anxiety and suicide. Most of these conditions are caused by the bodies / brains inappropriate reaction to a perceived threat.
The brain puts the body into an alert state ready to fight off the threat or run away - the fight or flight' response. This was a fine defense mechanism when the threats where physical and the dangers were short term, but in the modern world most of our problems & worries are in our heads, and can't be easily fixed physically. This means that your body ends up in an alert or heightened state for greatly extended periods of time, this is what causes the real long term damage to your body. This extended 'alert' body state leads to the symptoms of stress listed below and eventually to many many very serious health problems.
A few of the more common behavioral Symptoms of Stress
* Obesity and Over-eating
* Loss of appetite or anorexia
* If you smoke - you'll smoke more
* Increased coffee or alcohol consumption
* Increased irritability with other people, friends & family.
* Substance Abuse
* Unable to concentrate & make decisions - (very common symptom of stress)
* Increased and suppressed anger
* Loss of your sense of humor
* Not be able to cope with life, feeling out of control
* Jump from one job to another without finishing things
* Excessive emotion & crying at small irritations
* Lack of interest in anything other than work
* Permanently tired even after sleep - (another very common symptom of stress)
* Decreased sex drive / libido
Check through the list and see if any symptoms apply to you, be honest with yourself, denial is dangerous and won't get you on the road to controlling stress. Any one of the symptoms listed could be caused by other factors, however if you are suffering from several of the symptoms listed especially - irritability, lack of concentration and continual tiredness - then you're stressed.
It's important to deal with stress before you develop any physical symptoms. Don't think of stress as just a 'mental' problem that will go away, it wont unless you take action to deal with the underlying causes. The first step in overcoming stress is to admit that you're stressed, the second step is to identify the underlying factors that are causing you stress and then take practical action to deal with them.
Common Symptoms Of Stds
Dermoid cysts can occur in any person, regardless of race, sex, and age. They can grow on any part of the body but are often found on the face, neck or scalp. They are usually apparent at birth in these cases. Dermoid cysts can also develop in the ovary and, of course, this only occurs among women.
A dermoid cyst usually occurs in the ovaries. Ovarian Dermoid cysts are usually found in women of childbearing age, from their 20s until about age 40, but can occur in women of any age. These complex cysts, which develop from totipotential germ cells, often contain tissue such as hair or teeth, or even bone tissue. Dermoid cysts can appear on the scalp, face, or neck and on either or both ovaries. They may need to be surgically removed when found on the ovaries if they cause severe pain or circumvent blood flow to the ovaries.
A dermoid or mature teratoma in an ovary is a benign type of tumor. Dermoids are fairly common. They make up about 1/2 of all benign ovarian tumors but are rarely cancerous. Dermoid cysts are only indicators of cancer in 1 to 2 percent of all dermoid cyst cases, most of which occur in women over 40 years old.
Cancerous dermoid cysts are referred to as immature teratomas. The development that occurs early on will determine if or not a dermoid cyst may become cancerous. Dermoid cysts are rarely ever cancerous, and can vary in its content, often known to contain hair, sweat glands, cartilage, and muscle fibers. There is slim to no chance that a dermoid cyst will turn into a cancerous cyst once there are hairs or other similar features that appear on it.
Dermoid cysts can be found on one or both ovaries. They usually can be detected during a pelvic examination. They are usually asymptomatic but can twist or rupture, causing severe pain in either the pelvic or abdominal area. Potential complications can be avoided by removing dermoid cysts that develop in ovaries. If the cyst is not removed and continues to develop, peritonitis may result, which is a painful irritation of the abdominal area.
Intense abdominal or pelvic pain is generally the first sign that an ovarian cyst has burst or twisted. To fix the problem, surgical removal is usually required. Only a physician can diagnose a dermoid cyst, because the symptoms associated with it are not markedly different than those from other types of ovarian cysts.
The symptoms of ovarian cysts are something every woman should be aware of, and any time she experiences these symptoms, she should consult a doctor. Any ovarian cyst that has the potential to turn complex should be watched carefully, and this includes a dermoid cyst. Removing a dermoid cyst has no impact on fertility and will not cause pregnancy complications. Still, patients need to perform good self care post-surgery to keep scar tissue form forming.
