Council Affordable Health Insurance

    View:
The Council for Affordable Health Insurance (CAHI) was formed in 1992 and is a Washington based organization with an ambitious but commendable aim. Their aim is to educate regulators, lawmakers and politicians about the results and effects – both good and bad - of various health care reform plans.

The Council's membership includes insurance companies, small businesses, various non-profit organizations as well as concerned individuals. The Council is led by the board of directors whose tasks include reviewing proposed health care legislation, developing policy and testifying before Congress. CAHI has recently been in the headlines for paying a $100,000 advertising bill aimed at improving health legislation in certain North-Eastern states.

Some of the specific issues which the Council is concerned with are providing tax credits for unemployed people and ensuring that people with pre-existing medical conditions aren't excluded from being able to get health insurance. They also suggest more reasonable medical malpractice liability laws and increasing disclosure so that patients have more knowledge about healthcare costs and coverage.

And one of their most important goals is to increase affordable health care options for both working people and the unemployed – one method of doing this is a proposal to allow people to purchase health insurance from other states, thus increasing competition and lowering prices. The Council also determined that uninsured people pay a lot more for medical services than those with insurance – another of their concerns.

CAHI has also developed an extensive network of grassroots organizations who they work closely with to take their message to the media as well as lawmakers. Analysts produce detailed reports based on the Council's findings, which are then distributed to the media and public.

The Council's name is perhaps a little bit misleading – they can't actually save you any money on health insurance, nor do they even provide insurance. But as a means of addressing and improving one of the most important issues concerning many people today, they are a valuable resource.

Cutting cost on insurance policy I know is something everybody wants to achieve. With the way things are going now, it seems impossible for one to likely get a policy that is affordable these days. One way by which you can minimize your health policy cost is to raise your deductibles to the highest you can. Although that may mean paying for your own medication yourself, but trust me it is better in the long run.

If you are looking for too cheap health insurance, I'm afraid you may never find one. If you see a deal that is too cheap then I want you to know that you are either being scammed or you've not heard the end of it yet. Instead, look for an affordable health package by customizing your policy a little because the search for too cheap health insurance is futile.

If you are unemployed or your employer does not offer any insurance package and you cannot afford a private insurance cover for yourself and your family, you can visit the department of health insurance of your state and solicit for subsidy or free health covers. This, although, is dependent on your total income and other related issues.

Your habits can influence the rate you pay for a particular policy. Take for instance, if you drink heavily and you are a chain smoker, the insurance companies will obviously see you as possessing higher risk of health issues and thus will charge you more to get you a policy or term you as uninsurable.

Do you know about the HMO insurance policy? The HMO is a kind of insurance policy that determines the doctor you use and the specific care they are liable for. With this type of policy you will be subjected to different doctors for different health related treatments.

You have to know that unexpected medical occurrences can cause an everlasting damage to your business. Health issue is something that should not be taken with levity. Yes the premium rates these days are cutthroat in nature, but you have to realize that when it comes to health issues, very little compromise can be costly.

If you are a good saver you can cut off health insurance by saving up for health issues on your own. If you have a regular contribution to a particular bank, you can receive loans to offset medical bills that are outside your savings. This way you know you are covered and at the same time you are not paying exorbitantly for a service you may not even use. Remember this will only work for you if you are a good saver!

The traditional type of health insurance is more benefiting, compared to the Health Savings Account type when it comes to the first dollar basis. This is the kind of benefit received without having to meet any deductibles; it may include annual specialist visits, etc.
