Diet And Weight Loss Products

    View:
Many people know that losing weight is not just about feeling fit and healthy, but a way of regaining the self-esteem many had before adding the extra weight. It's no wonder there are so many diet and weight loss pills on the market, most of them being over-the-counter drugs. Nevertheless, several queries have risen regarding these diet and weight loss products.

Questions such as: Are these products safe? How effective are they? Does the product actually give you the looks you hoped for? Are herbal supplements a better alternative to traditional weight loss pills? If you have such as these, here are few tips about such products and what you should really expect from them.

Most well know weight loss products are available not only in local drug stores and supermarkets but you can also find them on the internet as well. Many of these products are very effective, helping a lot of people get rid of that stubborn belly fat. Though this may sound good to many, there are still high risk involved that consumers are unaware of.

The regular buyer may check the compounds in a dietary supplement he or she may buy, but among the twenty or so herbs, vitamins and laxatives, it is hard to discern what is good or harmful to your body. So tho help, there are two ways to avoid buying poor quality weight loss products. You can either talk to your physician or check for the medical authority approval of the product. For instance, all supplements and drugs issued in the U.S. should carry an FDA authorization.

Here is another pertinent example of how some diet and weight loss products may do more harm than good. For instance, the former compound ephedra, which was the basis for many weight loss pills were withdrawn from the market because of the health concerns that it raised, and it was soon replaced with the "magic" ingredient: bitter orange.

You now see many weight loss products now that say: Ephedra-free, which is by far a great thing, but they may contain a higher amount of bitter orange than is safe for the body. Bitter orange in high dosage may cause arrhythmias, increased blood pressure, or can even inhibit the body's metabolism. This is why advice from your physician is needed in such cases. It may not be wise to start a pill-based diet without first asking for your doctor's opinion.

With that being said not all popular weight loss supplements are bad, there are also completely risk-free dietary supplements that adjust well to the body's requirements. For example the diet and weight loss products based on green tea extract combined with ginseng root have proved a huge success on the market.

The green tea extract acts a laxative and antioxidant, stimulating the body's natural metabolism, whereas the ginseng root provides the right nutrient and mineral vitality. In the same category we could range weight loss products based on seaweed such as chlorella or spirulin that are excellent tonics and great fat burners. Just remember when starting a pill-based diet, the more natural it's composition, the more healthier you will be!

One of the reasons for the Japanese having the longest life expectancy rates is due to their diets. Research shows that Japanese people eat a greater variety of foods than people who adopt Western diets. For example, recent studies indicate that the Japanese eat over 100 different varieties of food per week, while Westerners, on the other hand, eat only about 30 different types of food.

The types of food that Japanese eat also seem to be a significant factor in their life expectancy. Fresh vegetables such as bean sprouts, bamboo shoots, string beans, mushrooms and cabbage form an important part of their diet. And while red meat is not excluded from their diets, it is only eaten in small quantities. By contrast, fish makes up a big part of their diet and is eaten 3 times more than meat.

Additionally, oily fish such as Salmon, Mackerel and Tuna are main staples in their diets. These types of fish contain important nutrients called Omega Fatty Acids which exert a protective influence over the heart and other organs. These nutrients also help to maintain the health of the reproductive organs, brain and eyes. Omega Fatty Acids also help to maintain a strong immune system as well.

Furthermore, Japanese people eat about 40 times more soy products than Westerners. Soy foods contain an abundance of natural occurring substances which are anti-carcinogens and have been proven effective against breast cancer and prostate cancer. Because soy is a low-fat source of protein, studies indicate that soy consumption can help you lose weight and build lean muscle mass.

Japanese people who stick to their traditional diets also drink a lot of green tea. Rich in cancer fighting substances called anti-oxidants, green tea helps the body to naturally burn fat and cause carbohydrates to be released slowly which promotes the burning of fat.

Although Japanese cooking takes a lot of time to prepare, many restaurants and delis now offer pre-packaged Japanese foods on their menu. So, although you may not have time to prepare it yourself at home, pre-packaged Japanese food is an easy option; as is dining in a Japanese restaurant when you choose to eat out.

On a typical day, a Japanese menu may consist of the following: Breakfast: rice and fish or egg with a bowl of Miso soup. Lunch: braised boneless chicken thigh, onion slices and egg with a bowl of chopped mixed salad. Dinner: Stir-fry mixed vegetables, cashews, bean sprouts and steamed rice. Dessert: Japanese waffle stuffed with sweet red beans.

Over-all, the daily calories of a person following a Japanese diet is about 1400 calories and includes a wide variety of fresh food, meat and vegetables. If you are on a diet, following the typical Japanese way of eating should help you to lose about 1 pound per week and help you to maintain a healthy, longer life as well.
