Trying to sleep when you having numerous things burning at the edge of your concious mind, means only one thing - insomnia. In order to sleep, our thought process has to slow way down to a point where our body instinctively slips into the void we call sleep. If you're busy thinking about all of the things that you didn't get done the previous day, you won't be able to fall asleep. Worry is a powerful emotion, so powerful that it can lead to a lifelong problem with insomnia and numerous other maladies.



If you have several things that you've neglected to deal with, just grab a pen and paper and write them down. List the dastartly deeds and then jot down possible ways you can get the job done. Doing this, you are making a bonafide effort to change that particular situation. Now when you are in bed each night and you do think of that task, you'll find reassurance in knowing that you are working towards resolving it. Your mind won't be stuck on worrying about how it will never get accomplished. Crossing completed tasks off the list is a nice feeling.

Sleep is something that every human being just has to have.

Some people can get by with only a few hours of sleep, But for some, if they don't get at a minimum eight hours, they cannot cope with daily functions. Their work, their relationships and their life is affected. Sleep is very important to a healthy and happy existance.

Insomnia can be a chronic problem for some people.

It can start during a particularly stressful time in your life or as a symptom of an illness. It causes such a powerful disruption in the persons sleep pattern that they struggle to find a way to get back a normal sleep pattern. Spending months or years trying to find a method to sleep is mighty frustrating.

Traditional medicine offers many alternatives for people who have suffered from the dreaded insomnia. Sleeping drugs are a heavily prescribed remedy. Although they do 'knock you out', they can also have serious side-effects. One of the most serious is that they are often addictive. It becomes a trade-off for those who choose this approach. Although their disorder is treated, they become addicted to legal drugs and in some cases become dependant on that medication for the rest of their lives. A very sad fate indeed.

There are natural alternatives. Zero side-affects.

And the old 'warm milk' is no wives tale. It does help.

There is a chemical that is released in milk once it is heated. This chemical is called tryptophan and it works to relax the body and help you to drift off to sleep.

One of the most natural remedies for insomnia caused by noise is actually more noise. That might seem difficult to believe, but it's important to understand that the noise that you might need to sleep is specially prepared just for that purpose.

Silence doesn't seem to be the answer for numerous people.

Certain sounds enhance the desire to sleep in people. The sounds might differ from person to person but in general they fall into several different categories. These sounds are then transferred onto a recording device and a consumer who is suffering from insomnia can purchase it. These create what I refer to as white noise . I like to have my fan running close by. Works wonders for me.

Give up worrying about things that can never be changed. It's just a big waste of time and creates stress.
