Dog Barking Training Tips

    View:
Many dog owners think that training a dog is a complex matter, and they don't even try to train their dogs. They believe that training dogs is only a thing that experts professional dog trainers can do. Well, they might be right, if they are thinking of those amazing dogs that they see on competitions on TV. Contrary to their belief, training a dog the basics is a really simple task. Once the owner becomes familiar with the dog training success tips, half the battle is won.

There is a say out there: when a dog fails training, is not that dog that fails is the owner. This is particularly true when the owner who is acting as a dog trainer does not consistently apply the dog training success tips to ensure a good and rewarding training program. Be consistent when training your pup and half the battle will be already won.

One of the first tips you need to be familiar with when training your dog is that you need to apply three basic elements to your dog training efforts. These elements are consistency, persistence and patience. Without these three changes are your efforts on training your dog will fail.

What is about dogs that they need an alpha or a leader of the pack? Some dog owners do not understand these concept, they think that because they brought the puppy home and give them love, attention and food that make automatically make them the leader of the pack. They could not be father from the truth, reality is that when dogs realize all the things you do for them they will want to become your master and will start manipulating you (no harm intent), just to get what they want and need.

No dog is perfect, the same way that no owner is perfect, but one thing is certain the more you show your dog the right things to do, the better both of you will be. A puppy that misbehaves does not need to be scolded, hit or yell at, he needs to be shown the right way to do the things you want from him. If you see your flurry friend making a mistake and you wait until a few minutes later to correct him, he will have no idea of why you are correcting him. Remember, dogs have very short attention span and short memory.

So what is positive reinforcement? It is a very simple term to understand and it is definitively one of the dog training success tips that you need to apply to your dog training routine. Every time your pet behaves in a way you want him to, follow the behavior with some treats that your dog loves or with lots of praise.

So how long should your training sessions be? The answer is, not long. Your goal is to make the training sessions short and interesting for your pet. This is also an opportunity to bond with your dog, so make it fun and not painful. When the training session is too long the pet will get bored and will lose interest.

A few benefits of training your dog yourself are: you will save some money, you will have a better behaved dog, you will have a stronger bond with your pet, and your will have fun. Due to all these benefits, you really should not get discouraged when your puppy dog does not behave the way you want him to in the first few trials. Be patient and you will see the rewards.

These are just some of the dog training success tips that you can apply when training your dog at home. As trainer, do not be discouraged at the first try of training your dog, instead have enough patience and believe that you can actually train your dog and in doing so, ended up with a bunch of savings.
Dog Barking Training Tips
Aggression in a dog is something, which an owner should not tolerate and should be dealt with as soon as the problem arises. However, in order for an owner to find the right kind of dog aggression training they should be using to control this problem they need to understand the kinds of aggression that dogs suffer from.

Below we look at what kinds of aggression a dog may suffer from either as a puppy or as a mature dog. But what is important to remember is that some dogs may only show one kind of aggression whilst others may show several.

1. Dominance - This kind of aggression will occur in a dog who thinks that they are in fact the alpha member (leader of the pack) and will use this as a way of asserting their dominance over the others in the pack (you and your family). Most commonly, you will find that male dogs and certain dog breeds are likely to suffer from this kind of aggressive behavior more. But in order for you to control the situation, you need to quickly and fairly establish that you and your family are the leaders in the group and they are at the bottom of the pack hierarchy.

2. Fear - This is type of aggression occurs when a dog feels insecure or frightened. They will often react to a disturbance or when being approached by either barking, growling, they may bare their teeth, snap or bite. In some cases, if they feel cornered or threatened they may actually bite. It is important that you do not think that your dog will grow out of this problem, as they will not.

3. Territorial or Over Protective - This type of aggression in a dog could cause them to be a danger to anyone (not just strangers). They will not only feel territorial about the things in your home, but will also feel territorial when they are out walking with you.

4. Possessive - This can make a real Jekyll and Hyde out of your dog, one minute they can loving and playful the next they are baring their teeth or snapping at you. This will normally occur when you approach something that they consider to be theirs. In many cases, a major trigger for this type of aggression is when you approach them when they are eating. If you want to stop this problem, you need to react as soon as you notice it occurring.

5. Punishment - This type of aggression normally occurs in a dog where they have been incorrectly punished or their owner is trying to exert their dominance of the animal. Although they may not respond aggressively, in the beginning to such treatment over any period of time, things will change and sooner or later, they are going to turn and become aggressive.

Above we have looked at just a few of the types of aggression, which a dog may suffer from. Only once you are able to identify just what type of aggressive behaviour it is your dog suffers from, can you then find the right kind of dog aggression training for them. A quick search of the internet and you are going to be able to quite easily find the right kind of training for both you and your dog.
