He may have not had too many hits, but Fardeen Khan's life off screen sure attracts attention. Suave, good looking, and once, one of the most eligible bachelors around, Khan says he is still a bit nervous about making a life long commitment. He is all set to marry Natasha Madhvani, the daughter of the 1970s's leading actress, Mumtaz.



On his first relationship with Ruheen Jaiswal:

"Let's just say that I slipped up somewhere. We were meant to have a long term relationship, but I was too caught up in my own world, and could not carry it through."

On his marriage:

"I and Natasha (Madhvani) are getting married sometime next year. Zayed is also marrying, so we need to figure out dates, which are convenient for the entire family. I am excited, but nervous. Natasha is a beautiful person and also stunning to look at. But I do admit I am nervous. Life has proved to be too unpredictable to say forever. That's why making a lifelong commitment scares me. I have seen so many divorces and also seen the pain they have caused. But yes, this time around I want to take a chance.

Fardeen-Khan Marriage is a big responsibility. You have to really work at it to make it work. All meaningful relationships in all contexts are hard work. For me, the basis of all fruitful relationships has been trust and not passing superficial any judgment. I consider myself very lucky as my relationships with all my friends have lasted for over 14 years. I have also been very lucky to have shared my life with some very special women. In a relationship the thing that matters most is trust. I find myself attracted mostly to girls who can hold a sensible conversation, not girls who're just very pretty to look at, and Natasha is like that."

On women:

"I have had very strong women in my life, like my mother and my sister. They have taught me how to respect women for what they are. I am sure this century is going to be theirs. We men have called the shots for far too long now and have made a mess of quite a few things. Natasha is a very independent woman, in mind and spirit. I want her to have a great sense of humour and wit. She loves travelling and has a great sense of adventure.

On his career

"My father used to say that however good you are there is always someone around the corner to replace you. It's taught me how not to be vain, and also to take failure in my stride. Fame has little to do with the person you are and it will be gone one day. I find it fun; I enjoy it without being vain about it. When it goes one day that will be acceptable too, because I will still have people around me who accept me and love me for the person I am. And honestly, at the end of the day, that's what matters most.

Even though the ride has been bumpy and full of challenges, I have always and will continue to maintain a very positive attitude towards my career. I believe that as long as I have the willingness to constantly learn and improve myself, nobody or nothing can stop me from achieving the level of success I want to. Sometimes I do feel insecure, but it has made me set very high standards for myself which I am constantly trying to achieve. On a personal level, I am not insecure because I don't mind rejection. For, I believe not everyone is made for each other-- be it friends or lovers."
