According to MSNBC, ?Parkinson's disease results from the loss of dopamine-producing brain cells. Rotigotine works by activating dopamine receptors in the brain, mimicking the neurotransmitter's effect.?

Some of the side affects associated with the patch include nausea, dizziness, vomiting, skin reactions, insomnia and drowsiness.
